I also prefer the original version. I loved the comical and whimsical nature of his running style and the crazy extension of his arms - now it just looks awkward in my opinion.

On this piece I particularly like the nose and the glasses. It seems almost as if you have AA'ed these parts, and achieved a nice effect, but the rest of the piece has been left untouched and many "jaggies" can be seen (if I'm using that term correctly). I'd recommend you work on smoothing those out. I also agree on not using pure black. And one more thing: the hair seems a bit too clumped and unlike what it actually is - hundreds of tiny, long lines that are together in one place. The "single mass of hair" technique works well in some applications, but along with the realism of the rest of your piece, I think some of that realism must be applied to the hair as well.

Great improvement, absinthelord. Feron, I think I prefer the original palette, although some changes could be made while keeping the warmth of the original. I just think the palette you chose takes it in a different direction and makes it look somehow less slimy and sticky. I think the warm colors of the original bring that out more.

Pixel Art / Re: Image streaks/Blur/motion streaks?

Hmm, there was a thread here a little while ago with some kind of robot scissor thing closing that had motion blur. The animation initially posted wasn't great, and it spawned a lot of great advice as I remember about motion blurring. I can't find the thread as I don't remember who posted it, but maybe someone else here will be able to post it. I think it might be of some help in this direction.

The thread, titled Lectro Mockup Madness, was posted by Souly.
Here is where the motion blur discussion begins: http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=4925.msg62315#msg62315

That doesn't look real, so adding a black outline will not hurt.

i wasn't aware that guns in real life had black outlines...

I believe he was saying that since this appears to be a non-realistic piece, having black outlines would not look out of place. Anyways, I would definitely recommend removing the dithering, and removing one shade from each color ramp. Also, I would add more contrast between the colors. In a piece as small as this, contrast is not a bad thing.
Ah, I understand, thanks for clearing that up.
As for crits: Definitely increase contrast and give highlights to the metal parts so they stand out, and on the left, the shape doesn't seem very defined - unless that was intentional, I'd recommend working on the shape a bit, and don't forget to increase contrast ;) Also, on the "firing" one, I'd suggest making the changed part a bit darker so that the change itself is more apparent.

another crappy animation (hands are good, but breathing is rubbish..)

and even worse:

really like the character design on this one, just a couple of crits (really just opinion, absolutely not based on experience..):
the stance is a bit unbalanced. try standing up like that in real life. you're putting in a small amount of effort just to keep yourself from falling, no? i see what pose you were attempting, and you came very close to it - just try moving the shoulders back just a tiny, little bit and the ankles/feet forward some. the first animation is okay, especially, as you said, the hands. i would suggest making his hair and shoulders move ever so subtly, with "subpixel" technique.
in the second animation, it kind of looks like he's drunkenly swaying while trying to stand straight up; he's had a few too many :)
