Also, just made this, just so you take in account that basically all of us told you the same thing.

The character needed more contrast; Check all the examples given, from all of them, yours are practically the only ones that blend with the background.

Hey man;

You have all the necessary tools to improve, we have given every last tip of possible advice; this reflects it alongside with a new colour pallette wich seemed to be your biggest concern.

The colours themselves are irrelevant, you could make the blob blue, purple or PINK like you wanted, the colours there, in addition to show you what hue shifting was, were showing you basically that they needed more contrast (that means in really basic terms, to pop out more), the inner colours, so the shading of the character is more noticeable, and the outline of the char itself so it stands out from the background.

I give you one final edit, with the colours i think you seemed to search for, in pure tones of pink, with practically no hue variation.

Value all the input that you have been given, keep at it, and dont give! we all start somewhere, so try and get those concepts we are telling you about; with practice, youll handle them in no time.

I'm not sure what you meant by 'dark purple' considering there are three dark purples.

The darkest one (the closest to black)

The head was going to be the actual head of the sprite...

Personally i advice against it for your first animation.

Post some updates when you have some  :y:

Sigg Jones is nice, I know one of the guys who worked on it. Had some beers with him some time ago. Should meet up again :D

Send much kudos from Chile next time you see him, i really liked it.

And that cat thing is evil, I don't think the cat likes that and when you take the tape of again it sure would hurt the cat.
One thing I wonder tho is what would happen if you would take it on every side of the cat, would it just be totally unable to move or something?

hahaha, what if on top of that, you add some bread with butter to the top and bottom , i fear the apocalypse!  :blind:

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] Mushroom

Fantastic progress man, may i suggest some sort of fireflies and little people interacting on the scene?

The lightsource seems correct, though watch for the mushrooms on your right, they should be darker (specially the last one on the right).

Remember to start replacing those hard black lines, and make good use of the AA, you can really take advantage of that since its a scene, if you also go out, and use some intelligent pallette integration, you can come up with some interesting colours on the piece.

Keep at it, its looking great.

Hi man:

First would be, dont save as jpg! it ruins the exactitud of pixels, and damages the capacity we may have to critique it.

Second, i think the biggest concern is that you used too much of the same colour, not really separating the areas by tone and depth, they all look as if the lightsource is casted right upon them, the design is nice overall, but could use more work.

It also looks like you AAed the gun to the white background, wich doesnt really make sense.

Start by posting the picture in a loseless format, and weŽll take it from there.

the fact I'm using a copyrighted character isn't anything to worry about from a legal perspective, I have had the chance to talk to Frederick Raynal (creator of LBA), and he doesn't mind at all

But I still completely understand if you have ethical reservations about the fact I'm using twinsen ;)

No, not at all!; Its the fact that from a legal standpoint you could have gotten into problems getting trough with the game; but since you said you had the authors blessing, well, you are all set then!

Keep pushing those beautiful graphics.

my coder for twinsen implemented a neat thing to record the action
it actually saves each frame as a .bmp, so you still have to make it a gif yourself, but still its awesome :)

That game is absolutely beautiful with a wonderful sense of style; I didnt get a chance till now (even though ive seen it before), to congratulate you on your efforts.

My only concern is that you are dealing with a copyrighted char.

Keep rocking Takam, and i hope that you finish that.

Hi man:

Im quite liking what you have so far, i think that maybe using that dark purple to colour maybe too harsh, maybe using a lighter variation of it, and keep the dark purple to sort of outline the dark parts.

Is the head supossed to be the head of the animation sprite or is it a portrait? If its the first case, i would recommend that you reduce the size, since this is your first animation, you will have a harder time with a large size.

Also, you may want to cast a shadow from the face to the neck area of the jackal.

Like i said though, my main concern is that you try your first animation at a large size...try your hand at a smaller size first.
