year after year many people still don't deliver at the end.

Maybe the issue is that a month is too long a time; it seems like a lot of people forget/become disinterested etc... Perhaps Secret Santa should run for 2 weeks instead, that will give people less time to put it off.

waaah I missed it  :'(

Why not list the stuff you like and someone might be nice enough to make you something even if you aren't officially signed up.

I don't think you're nearly finished. The highlight on the statue looks a bit crappy; it seems far too bright and distracting. Unfinished even. Also, I don't think the big eye on the bird looks right, it doesn't really fit with the rest of the piece. edit:

Yay, I feel like I've got my idea all worked out. Now I just have to pixel it

Shit yes :3

Any 'E' wrapping will be good for me.

I like:
Palettes with 16 or fewer colours
Colours which nobody has ever used before! (the more purple the better, though)
Interesting dither patterns.
This specific pixel cluster:
Sci-fi stuff (no fanart though!)
Scenes/landscapes
Space/nebulae/night skies/stars (not celebrities x__x)

I wasn't going to mention stuff I don't want, but everyone else is so may as well.

I dislike:
Anime stuff
Anything christmassy

General Discussion / Re: Best Pixel Art

Well, even though it is fairly atypical, I agree with Cure's suggestion of The Spartan. You could start off discussing how the pixels are comprised on red, green and blue components. Also, you could talk about how subtle differences in pixel placement can alter the viewers' perception of the image - in Helm's image there really does seem to be more than just red, green and blue, but of course there isn't! It's a good example because I'm sure your viewers will be wowed by how different it looks zoomed in.

Also, many people immediately think 'isometric' when they hear 'pixel art' (stuff like Habbo and Eboy spring to mind for many). A great example of an isometric piece would be this one by Fool. You could talk about all the minuscule detail that he's placed into that image. You could show close-ups of some of the people and talk about how he's managed to breathe so much life into those characters even though they're so tiny.

You might also want to touch on some standalone sprites too. Personally, I think it would be best to talk about something like the Super Mario Bros. Mario sprite, considering how iconic it is. You should mention that even though it only has 3 colours (excluding transparency) and fits within a 16 x 16 pixel canvas it still manages to be incredibly distinctive. You can even start moving around pixels in the sprite to show what a difference single pixels can make.

Anyway, good luck. Hope some of this helped, it was pretty much me just rambling though :-[

Not sure that I really dig this at all :sry:. Is it possible to have a choice of skins?

Pixel Art / Re: low battery..

My suggestion, inspired by Borderlands (this is what happens when you're close to death):

I think it improves the sense of urgency, as if he needs to plug himself in before everything completely fades to black.

@Manu - Nope, definitely not spray canned :-X but it's gone now anyway.

@Cure - Thanks, those were some of the subtle things I wanted to convey yet didn't know how, especially the lips.
