Nah it doesn't have to be you.

The Webpage idea isn't too bad... Just let me see if I can make the flash go to a website (shouldn't be hard, and I'm positive it's possible)  If people want to give me a web link, I can make people's names link to it.

Excellent.  I almost have all the flash stuff finished so I can begin adding characters in not too long.

Pardon me for breaking the #1 of Pixelation/Pixelopolis for the first time ever, but hay, thanks for locking my threads Kon/Alex.  It probably would have been too much work to either collaborate with me or better yet, just leave it open because who really cares.  Nice to see that when I spend a staggering ammount of the little free time I finally have to work on a flash animation and inspire others to draw as well is met with such disdain.

Forgive me for not knowing an obscure rule, but who really cares.  Just like all rules there is a level of subjectivity, and had I been a random new member trying to do an "activity" your "rule" would apply, but I would figure a prominent Veteran would be given a pass.  Heaven forbid an official activity and a fun activity completely under the wing of someone other than a moderator are both ongoing simultaneously.

Honestly, I don't get the chance to draw as much as I used to, especially pixel art, so when I finally find the drive again I wanted to make up for lost time with the community and involve everyone.

Way to suck the fun out of a creative activity.

No restrictions... I mean within reason... if you wanted to do a Marvel v Capcom character like the Hulk... by alll means go ahead.

http://steve.neonstar.net/fighter1.htm ... I think you might know this guy...
http://www.webalice.it/daddais/gifgames.htm ... This has some SNK vs Capcom sprites which I always held a place in my heart for...
http://www.sfgalleries.net/art/sf3/sf3-3s/ ... I looked at this a little bit making mine...

Can anyone tell me why all the character sheets of SNK v Capcom characters here http://www.confusticated.com/svc_frames.html have sprites of them as women?

how long do we have to work on this?
It will probably be ongoing like the previous... as soon as I have about 10 really well done images, I'll put together the flash file and continually add people until it fills.

General Discussion / King of Spriters 2006 - Project of the Millennium!
« on: January 01, 2006, 09:45:50 pm »

Some may remember the old King of Spriters we did many years ago.  It was a lot of fun and really brought a bunch of prominent figures out... even got Sals to work in sizes larger then 32x32!

I have some time off and I decided to start a new version for 2006 because one, this was always fun and two, I run the risk of new members not knowing I actually draw from time to time :P I've decided to try something new this time to really make people work... this time you must include a character sprite (animated or not, I don't give a crap) in your own style... but to scale of a capcom or SNK figure.  When you finish both parts, portrait and Sprite, edit your initial post to display both of them side by side create a new post with both of them side by side.

Obviously I won't ask anyone to participate unless I start us off.  Some of you might remember my old 2003 (jesus has it been that long) fighter figure of myself...

So I decided to update it...

The colours are meh, the contrast is just OK and the pose didn't come out as intended and I didn't match the Cacpcom style quite like I wanted... but whatever... critique it if you want, I may or may not fiddle with it some more.  Also the finger were a pain.  The portrait came out a bit better... hopefully very reminiscent of the new SNK style... I tried to emulate it...

Most importantly, I must remind everyone... NOT EVERY ENTRY WILL BE ADDED TO THE FINAL SCREEN.  I can't stress that enough, there simply isn't enough space if everyone participates.  I make my judgement calls based off quality, so put some time into your work.  Only one person is guaranteed a slot, me, hahaha.  There is no real restriction on size as this is as free and open as possible.  No colour limits, and sizes can be anything reasonable from a Sukura sized character to the Incredibe hulk from Marvel vs Capcom.

So to Recap...

- Portrait
- Sprite
- [Optional] Website you want linked to... completely up to you, as I will add any without this.
- [Optional] Stage Background if you are interested in a custom one... again completely up to you, as I will add any without this.

General Discussion / Re: Pixel Art Poster

I remember the old pixelation poster someone had made, it had a plethora of great artists on it.  Should my memory serve me well, I remember the composition of the other not being as nice as this one.  Very Gunstar-esque.  Scubapproved(tm)
