Pixel Art / hero of time
« on: October 20, 2006, 02:53:45 am »

I was just really bored, I tried to make it a bit different than most walk anims (mainly the crazily wide hips) and I kinda like the result, just wanted to see what you guys thought of it

Pixel Art / water tiles
« on: July 28, 2006, 12:05:15 pm »
Im still working on my rpg tiles.. and Im just not happy with the water tiles:

I think I'll keep the tiles for a shallow pond or swamp etc.. but theyre not suited for anything else really.. so Ive been trying to make some other water tiles:
seiken densetsu3 inspired:

windwakerish:

at the moment, the sd3 style tiles are the only ones I like how I can use them, the other two are very restricting (WWish especially lol) but I like how the wwish ones look the best

let me get to the point, I was hoping I could get some ideas, tips, references, anything from you guys to help me out  :)

General Discussion / My sig
« on: May 16, 2006, 09:09:34 am »
everyones sigs here are pretty minimalistic and often just nothing, which is something Ive never really seen at a forum especially one based on an art form.

when I first registered here I had a pretty big sig (i think around 300 pixels high) and I got a pm saying it was too big, so I removed it, recently I made the one you see today and I got pmed explaining this one is too big also. well everywhere else Ive used this sig, and my much bigger version fits within restrictions fine.

so yeah, since there are no official rules or guidelines about signature size limits I'd just like to know if everyone is ok with it ;)

edit-
and please feel free to say what size you'd prefer signatures to be, it may help the admins come up with some rules or atleast a few more people have a size in mind when making a sig to use here

edit-
Ive got a new smaller sig now, below is the one this topic was about:

General Discussion / just wondering
« on: May 15, 2006, 05:18:05 am »
does anyone else here ever think about pixel art when painting and stuff?

like try to come up with a pallette first and paint the same way you would do it in mspaint or whatever?

in art Im planning on doing a bigass popart style board of ken vs akuma and Ive been painting some smaller versions first and I keep thinking about anti aliasing, selout etc while Im painting, not to mention Ive tried to ctrl+z many times >_>

just wondering if this happens with anyone else?

General Discussion / e3
« on: May 10, 2006, 03:20:08 am »
i know most members come to these forums for more pixel based discussion, but still e3 is interesting stuff.

well, what really got me excited was yoshis island 2 for NDS. i played the first one on the snes to death and its great to see a proper sequel being made.
the new super paper mario for GCN looks amazing too. I loved the look of the past two paper mario games and its great to see them change it up a bit, looks like awesome fun

and ofcourse, the wii overall, Ive almost completely ran out of bandwith here so I had to choose my downloads carefully, downloaded that one video previewing wii games, and its pretty interesting, red steel looks really cool holding the sword up to someones neck :)

what really surprised me was how much you use the wii remote in twilight princess, I really thought it would just be for fishing or something. looks awesome.

so yeah, how is this e3 treating you all?

Pixel Art / "Sakura" ambigram
« on: April 28, 2006, 04:43:53 am »
firstly, for those that dont know, an ambigram is word art than can be flipped 180 degrees and still says the same word

talking to a friend of mine on msn, and she asked me to make her an ambigram of her name, much like the one I made for my username "TakaM" (my avatar)
so I got to work:

while the finished product isnt anything super amazing, its the process I enjoy
I start on paper just sketching the word, in this case "sakura" with it upside down underneath each time to help with finding the best way to make each letter.
the beauty about making ambigrams on a computer is that you usually only have to do half the work and copy, paste and flip it onto the otherside. I didnt scan any of the pen and paper progress, but i do have most of the progress on the computer, so hereit is:
(she asked me to add the kitty >_>)

again, its nothing amazing in pixel art terms, but its something I enjoy doing and just thought you guys might find it interesting ;)
