General Discussion / Campaign Central
« on: November 10, 2005, 01:26:31 pm »
Alright, please post your intent to run here. Provided you are seconded by someone, you are considered to be in the running. You may campaign up until the 23rd of this month. You're welcome to withdraw at any time, and if your support is revoked, you need to acquire that again.

As a reminder, there are 3 seats available this time. Unless you specify which seats you want to run for, you will be added to the ballot for every seat.

Campaign Thread: You may create 1 thread to promote yourself.

Banners: People tend to make banners during the campaign period, in addition to creating a thread to promote their mission for the quarter. People typically run with 100x75 sized banners. It's not obligatory to create one, but it can help get the word out.

Good Luck Everyone!

General Discussion / Spriting Isometric
« on: November 08, 2005, 06:58:46 pm »
Given the necessity to develop on my iso spriting skills, I decided to set up this thread for the display of isometric sprite samples, as well as give everyone an opportunity to discuss the works and/or try some sprite animation out for themselves. Let's get this started. On with the samples!

Thanks to FaeryShivers for helping to acquire these. Excuse my ignorance, since I'm not sure where all of these are from; I'll be listing them by number:

#9 is a sampling from Nippon Ichi (Disgaea, La Pucelle), showing their blobbing methods for character creation. I find them a little suspicious, but the main problem is a lack of information on how the move from early blobbing to the full animation of the sprite, which is not shown.

General Discussion / December 1st Quarter Elections
« on: November 08, 2005, 12:59:43 am »
Time flies... it's already been almost a whole quarter and we're coming upon our second election period.

People with an interest in the community are encouraged to participate and run for office. Scroll down for the election schedule.

For those who are not familiar with the process, every quarter people campaign for seats as representatives of the forum. As representatives, they are in charge of providing activities and governing over forum etiquette matters. Elected officers, known as Daijin, will choose for themselves two people, known as Daihyo, which will assist with the activities and other issues.

The Daihyo of the current quarter are permitted the option to stay on and be promoted to Daijin themselves. Congratulations to Flaber, who has opted for this position. The other representatives have either declined or have not given a confirmation either way, so they shall be leaving at the end of the quarter. For the remaining seats (Seat 1, Seat 2, and Seat 4), open elections shall be conducted.

To guarantee equal opportunity to participate in this governance, representatives are unable to hold consecutive terms in the same position for one quarter.

Here is the schedule:

November 10-23 - Campaign Period.

November 24-30 - Election Period.

Good luck to those who intend to run. There will be a campaign thread set up on the 10th. To be eligible you are required to gain the support of at least 1 other member, that's it. When the campaign period arrives, candidates may create a thread for their campaign messages.

I want to personally thank all of the representatives for giving their time and energy to the forum and community. Your initiative is appreciated.

Pixel Art / 3 Objects (For Collab?)
« on: October 11, 2005, 07:03:24 pm »
I did a series of works with 3 items in each. Started as a bit of exercise, though I figured I would ask any enterprising artist to come along and make sense of my works by taking the items from one image and create a work with it. C+C isn't really needed, but I don't mind it either!

Pixel Art / Life/Tamigotchi Style Sprites :)
« on: October 11, 2005, 01:16:05 pm »
I did these a little while back. Nem and I were going to do a life simulator with them, though we ran out of time. Anyways, I thought they would be interesting to share :)

Let me know if any of you are interested in making a game out of them... I might be interested in a quickie game (and could make a few more bits to go along with it)
