Job offers / [Filled] 2d Artist for ORPG
« on: June 06, 2012, 03:17:46 am »
Hello, I am a college student majoring in Computer Science. As a child I have always wanted to make video games. Now I am actually working towards making that happen. I will be creating a fantasy/middle ages web 2d orpg, which I will be doing all the programming in java and all the game design aspects myself. The game will have content for many types of players whether they prefer pvp, pve, or even leveling trade skills.

I am looking to commission a pixel artist that can produce quality top down art.

Example of quality looking for:

The things I will need done consist of:

Sprites (Player characters, Npcs, and Monsters with front, side, and back views.)
Items (Ex. Potion, monster drops, ores)
Equipment (Ex. Swords, shields, headgears)
Tile sets (Ex. Forest, Cave, Desert, etc, probably around 32x32)
Spells/Skill Animations

and probably more, I will provide a documentation of the things needed to be done and even reference drawings/pictures when necessary.

There will be a hire-for-work contract signed by me and the artist.
Payment will be through paypal and the amount will be negotiated with the artist.(I get paid every other friday)

I have been working on them for a while and would appreciate some suggestions.
I think that I did not make the brightness between the top and sides big enough of a difference and the tiles look somewhat washed out.

Color wise, your sprites do not have any hue shifting and many of the shades are too similar and blend in together.
You need to differentiate each shade so a clear difference in darkness and brightness is shown.
When it comes to hue shifting and color selection  I would recommend reading this as it helped me a lot.
