Pixel Art / Nightmares awake [emerging from the depths]
« on: June 03, 2012, 11:36:57 pm »
Finally decided to make something other than minecraft textures!cHere goes!  ;D

Best viewed after clicking 2-3 times.

I really want C&C on most things; composition, pallet and general form.

This is a very short post as I am very tired and it's past midnight  :y:

Thanks :3

(sorry for triple post)

My brain hurts, perspective is my weakest point D:

made a test edit:

I will make some sort of floor to wall transition, but i tried to keep the floor the same sort of style as the wall; all I did was edit out some detail and colour.
I got rid of the highlights on the grass to make it less "noisy"
I am not sure whether I like it? Thoughts?

As you can see, my weak point is perspective. Hahah

Now I can only see it as a cliff ._. In some ways, however, that is good for me. I was never able to work out how to make cliff/wall tiles :D I will do something like hideon for the floor tile and see if my first tiles still work as cliff tiles :3

Theres not much to say about this, apart from the fact that I am looking for C&C about my new tileset. I'd lovee for it to be a game, but cant ever find programmers!

I think every tile has 5 colours, apart from transitioning tiles, as they have 10(?)

Aw that reminds me of a really really old animation of mine I made for a game...maybe it helps?

so much better than mine...I might try and do a higher res sprite. I decided to ditch the animation wholly, I need to work more on form and shading before I start trying more technical things.

I've always thought that the shade in the center of a transluscent slime comes from its body being on the ground. And because of the transparency you can kinda of make it out, even though they're standing on top of it. As such, when a slime jumps, that shade should decrease as the slime is leaving the ground for a bit. Thinking about it, I'm not sure that you're trying to convey a jumping movement, but that's how I first interpreted it. Thus I did an edit to try and show what I mean with the decreasing shadow.

Also tried to make the reflections a bit more dynamic. I'm not too satisfied with the results though! Thought I'd just show it anyway, to maybe give some new ideas.

Thats exactly what I wanted! I'll have a shot at editing it tomorrow, it's pretty late for me now :) I

Hey! I have been interested in looking at, and reading about, pixel art but I never really try to make any myself. To make a change to this, I decided to do that most people do; make a slime! It's very WIP and I tried and animation, but probably not sucessfully!

I would love C&C as well as compliments ;)

(looking at the big view, I notice I completely mucked up the highlights. I will edit that later when I have more C&C, so then I have a few things to pixel to keep me occupied ;D)

I love that pallet! One thing though, I feel the tree could use a tiny bit of AA. I made a bad edit (I am new to pixelling):

I just realised i barely touched the shaded part of the tree with AA, its looking rough.

Beautiful none the less! :3
