Something about the torso was bothering me, I took a look at the sprite to see, and did a quick edit (speedo alert!):

His abdomen was a tad too long to me; though since he's clothed, all you really need to do with the sprite is set the belt one or two pixels higher.

Other than that, I love it--nice palette, cute style, and it has some character. Kind of reminds me of Disney's Aladdin.  :)

I did this a few days ago; still bald because I'm not sure if I want to keep that hairstyle.

I started on a new portrait yesterday, the same character from this thread last year, and THIS thread almost 3 year ago...  :blind:

I like this design--really "characterful".

The arms look a little crooked, especially the right one (away from view).

I can't wait to see this one colored!  :D

I like what you're doing with his skin's texture--is it supposed to mimic scales? It could use some work though, especially the bright spots around his nostrils; they don't blend with the other spots to me.

The shading on the bottom on the hat gives it a tilted perspective--is it supposed to not fit over his all the way? Is it tipped to one side? If it's supposed to be straight on his head, take a look at Souly's edit and see how the hat sits on the Yoshi's head.

I don't think it's noisy, but any more dithering and it would be; gotta agree that you need to tame it some, because it gives the tree a 'fuzzy' texture. But most of it is perfectly fine, I think you should keep it mostly dithered; smoothing it out would create a plastic tree, and who wants that? XD

Not really a crit here, just a personal thing--I liked the more saturated palette, at least for the brightest shades, too.

Without a doubt, you're a fast learner!  My mouth hit the floor when you posted your second version. :o

It's been almost four months, but ah, well.

I'm still lost as to this character design--my cousin's improved on it some; it's less of a Sonic recolor. I came up with this:

But I could never get past the outline stage with the lower body, and it seems awkward to animate. Eventually I started from scratch and got this:

The proportions are pretty cute and maybe more cat-like, but the shading... meh.

Here are some of his other characters that I've sprited, all in drastically different styles.  ???

I can't wait to see what you do with this. (And it'd be better you not take take my lead re: those hlighlights, it won't look good at x2)

I was aiming for a slightly turned up nose before, but I tried a straighter one, and... I like it. Though I think I want it to be thinner, I dunno.

@Helm: Haha, nah, I knew exactly what you were talking about, though I was thinking the really thin bridge + large wings were what gave that impression. Top lip was there, but only only colored light pink instead of outlined, otherwise they'd be more full than what I'm going for.  Still gotta study up on those ears--they can be as aggravating as hands!

@r1k: Heeey, nice edit! Thanks! I took some of your fixes into account (reduced the widow's peak, softened the jaw slightly, rounded the scalp, etc). The 2007 version just was due to... well, me having no clue what I was doing, but she wasn't supposed to be especially feminine. Still, glad for the edit!

A bald redo from scratch of the brown-haired guy:

... meh.  :-\

Pixel Art / Re: Tile set - Cliffs, grass

The tiles themselves look great to me, but they don't blend very well together in the screenie. I see you used transparency for the area where the grass and rock meet, I think the transition should be smoother, like little random blades of grass on the edges. Same applies to the base of the cliff.
