Pixel Art / Seeking some hard Cc. Sprites
« on: May 07, 2009, 01:00:46 pm »
I haven't posted here in a avery long time. For the past few months I've gotten back into pixel art and have improved on my own, but now I think it's time to tap into the vast knowledge the Pixelation members have. Please feel free to kill me with a ton of harsh constructive criticism, or even just criticism.. I'll just end up getting better.

 Lets do this! :yell:

First up:

Original

Edit
I made this blob guy, I decided to animate him too late and didnt use an animation templete of simple colors to get the movement right, thus resulting in a goofy-looking animation... not sure how to fix it. I've been having some doubts about how excally I'm supposed to AA the edges of a prite, if anyone is aware of some sort of tutorial that explains that, a link to it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi there, my name is Miguel, better known by an alias "Tayoko". I've recently decided to take up freelancing to further my skills, get a chance to work on exciting projects. I'm really pumped ready to go, so come hire me!

I've noticed the other artist here seem to lack a clean website to place their work. I can offer to create a website for those who need it for a price in the 700's[usd] with a 2-3 week turnaround. Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks all who have been able to vouch for me. It has been a pleasant experience to work with all of you.

Seems to be choppy and like, not very run-like.  Indigo pointed out its missing "weight" Not entirely sure how to solve this though.

I defentaly tried the idea of making a wireframe, never tried it.

hows that? I still see how i am not capable of making a nice smooth animation. I'll keep working on it.  Adarias, i'd like to IM with you to get some pointers, i'll add ya.

Pixel Art / Iso Walk cycle. Need help.

I really wanted to plunge into Iso/tactics style stuff so I did. I wanted also to make the look of it non-chibi, anyway. I'm having loads of trouble with the walk animation/perpective issues, a helping hand would be welcome.

Right. What hes trying to teach you, still applies. your doll/cartoon looks really flat, and in reality, things of made up of forms in 3demsional space (well that how humans see it :p)  Instead of making a paper cutout, you have to sculpt or "mold" things with shadows and highlights.   If it wasent so flat in the first place, he would not of had trouble guessing what it was.

Look at the way he used the highlights to "raise" above his "eye"  and better yet, the shading used to make the nose look like its raised from the face.

@sherman pretty awesome edit, you have been taking the time to help beginners a lot lately  -including me- I thank you for that.

haha very cool. Before you added the facial hair they looked like Rambo & Skeletor spoofs. Looking good, even though it has already been suggested, a bg for them would be kinda cool.

yay finally some good CC. I think I understand what your saying. So now what I should do is, make the lighting a bit more dynamic, that way the forms are defined better?  ;D

*edit*

Ok, I took that into consideration, and Avoided looking at the picture. and...
