Pixel Art / Avatars I made for some friends

Some time ago, probably over a year, I felt this urge of getting back into pixelart, but since I did't have a project or ideas for images, I posted on a forum I go to and offered to make 100x100 size avatars, as long as people gave me a reference of what they wanted. Some were very specific, others were a bit vague, and other even wanted some sort of adaptation.

here's what I ended up with:

2D & 3D / Lowpoly chibby car

Hey, this is something I made some time ago. A racing game in which the cars were nothing but chibby versions of real cars.
in this case Im just showing the Ferrari Enzo
this screenshot is taken from inside Max and with a shader that the coder at the time made for the project.

it never when further then the prototype.

the texture is painted with static lighting, with an ambient oclusion as a base for the shading and so far all the parts use the same material, so the windows reflect as much as the body, wich I may change should this model ever get anywhere.

here it is without the reflection pass

and here is the wireframe.

the body is 888 polys and 480 vertices. the wheels are 40 polys each.

Hi everyone, I made this video tutorial to try and help out the people that are starting out on the whole shading thing and have some unanswered questions or basicaly don't yet have a concept of shading and how it is represented.
I hope this video helps you guys out. Its a part1 of a two part tutorial.
the next tutorial will be pixeling a human head using what this tutorial teaches.

tell me what you think and if you have questions please post them here instead oh a pm, cause this way they stay public and can be of use to any user that reads this.

2D & 3D / Lowpoly f15 and cars

Hey every one,

I've been away from pixeling, but some months ago I decided to make lowspec cars with non-pixeled textures, though I might make pixeled textures afterwards.
but some time ago I made a really lowspec model of an F15 with a 32x32 pixeled texture. it came out funny I think. I like the pixels being so big. on the model.

here they are:

its 248 polys


and here are the cars I made.

none goes above 210 polys. textures are 128x128, but I want to make 64x64 pixeled textures.

Hello again everyone,


I just wanted to show my new website. it has some pixelart you may know if you where back at the old pixelation and then pixelopolis

but theres also some new "old pixelart" that I clouldn't have shown before since it was secret projects.

in animation I also had some 3d animation loops, such as walk animations from some characters I do but they are under NDA's so... no show...

anyway, tell me what you think:

PixelArt SOCKS! I ment SOCKS!

so this friend I have has a sock making company. and he got this new kick ass machine that makes images on the socks, based on pixeled images...
you know what that meens... dont you??? CUSTOM SOCKS!

so since I wanna get a guitar and all, I made the guitar on the socks! :D

and I made that into a sock!

and a sculpey miniature, just for kicks

I find this to be rather cool :D

General Discussion / Video Tutorial about platform tiles

Hello everyone,

I made this video tutorial on tiles. it's a 45 minute video, pretty much the basics.

Helm has kindly provided the space, so if you are advanced pixel artists, please refrain from downloading, we dont wanna drain out Helm's bandwidth!
also, if anyone can mirror this, it would be great! :D

Hey people, I gather some images of some of my favorit pixel artists and made a poster out of it. this is the first print. not sure if it's going to stay like this.

this is for personal use only, not going to make money out of this
so, dont be alarmed.
hope also no one is offended, and see if you can tell which are which

there are 2 sprites you might not know because thoes are two personal friends how dont frequent this forum.

Camus was the one that pointed it out, since I've only player megaman X, like... this one time... I dont think I made the first level...
