Pixel Art / Re: Solar Era of Adventures

Leave the gray disc alone, move strong light source to left side, weak light source to right side.  I think that will make it believable.  You want strongest light source on the left to justify being able to see the object.  If the strong light source was on the right it would be a silhouette.

Pixel Art / Re: Somewhat abstract swirly face
« on: May 27, 2006, 01:12:32 am »
I like this.  So much that you've made me make an edit.  First time I've "pixeled" in a while... if you can call what I've done to it pixeling.  Here is maybe how I would take it:

very fast brain farting.

1) I think it is too monotone, so I added the light blue (rather poorly but you get the idea), made one face-half a different color scheme than the other half, and put some green in background... which I could have incorporated elsewhere in the image if I were spending time with this.

2) I think its neat to seperate the halves of the face more.  So I did.

3) Perfect dither goes against the feeling of this image.  More creative color mixing would be nice.

4) Background doesn't have to have anything concrete.  I put blobs of color.

Just some ideas.

I once read an article online that said if you have a cavity you shouldn't see a dentist to have it drilled and filled.  As that harms the health of your entire body.  Instead you should put some hippy cream on it, brush with natural hair toothbrush with some sort of hippy paste and WILL THE CAVITY TO HEAL ITSELF.  I think you could also call on Jesus powers.

I don't have much faith in anything said by anyone no matter how qualified they are supposed to be.  But I'm a cynic sarcastic asshole so...

I feel like I'm starting to be less scared of using pens and stuff now.  Trying to draw that dude in the mirror.

I didn't bother to make any revisions to my projects for this class, so I put some masterpieces on the revisions sheet thingy for extra credits.  I hope the A+ is my grade for the class and not just the teacher playing along with my stupidity and giving me an A+ for my doodles.

I like having a break-down of the points.  It lets you know how far off you were.  Compared to the top two, my votes are very low.  Wasn't a close call by any means.  For my entry anyway.  Leads me to believe the winners probably tackled key issues much more competently than me.  So now I go look at em and try to learn some things.  I feel like... if ya can't handle being judged, don't compete.

Yeah I wouldn't mind a crit.  From Adam or anyone else.  I've never really done anything like this before.  I've always avoided tiling cause it seemed so tedious.  And it kind of is, but surprisingly fun.  I guess the fun IS that its a challenge.  Definitely makes you think about what you're doing.

Congrats to the winners, and all who submitted.

I think this forum is great.  Better colors.  Less people.  No bugs.  Highfives to all who put work into it.

"alloverness".  Chuck Close should be your favorite artist Helm.   ;D  I think I read somewhere that Close also painted like Maxfield Parrish, in that he would lay down only reds first, then blues, then yellows... to arrive at his colors on the canvas as if he were a printer.  Friggen nuts.
