We need more people to explain this.

Well, no one can ever say that people on pixelation aren't helpful.. need an explanation? here are five!  :D

Potentially stupid question: we've got 16 colors including black, correct? What happened to transparency?
Transparency can be any of the available colours. On a system where you are allowed to use 4 colours per sprite and tile, the 4th colour is used to define transparency leaving 3 colours to paint with.

And while we're discussing zoom tools.. I'm using Opera's built in zoom feature instead of pixelations zoom script because when you zoom big images with the script they tend to go off the edge making it difficult to navigate around since you get a scroll bar inside an iframe.

P.S. how can i make my gif images to move??  ???

I'm (as well as many other people on this forum are) using Pro Motion, it's a pixel art suit with a built in animation package.. but if you're only looking for an easy way to stitch together a few images into an animation an alternative would be UnFREEz.

I dunno, at home I have a 24" widescreen monitor running at 1920x1600 and pretty much all well pixelled stuff reads perfectly fine, like the smilies and stuff.
A bigger screen with a lower resolution, so the pixels will be bigger for you.. it's not that strange.

I usually consider 22 inches - 1028x to be the '1x size' and yes, it's vague.
.. I assume you mean 1024, and I guess that makes 2048x1536 on a 22" screen screen half-x? :P

med-res (That's what DPIV called it anyways)
med-res on the amiga is a screen mode with "tall" pixels instead of "wide" pixels like on the c64..

Anyway, these smileys are fantastic.. I have no troubles reading them whatsoever.

All this "best viewed at 1x, 2x, whatever-x" talk is a bit ambiguous though, it depends on your monitor size and what resolution you're running on it, on my 22" monitor at home running 2048x1536.. all pixel art read alot better zoomed once or thrice.

Green is not only an important colour because it's used alot, but also because humans see green better than any other colour, and will be able to tell banding alot easier - even with a high colour count. A 16bit distribution of RGB565 is not uncommon simply because green is so much more important than the other two components.

Feel free to put me in the "more greens" camp :P

It's fantastic.

.. only crit I can think of is that there's some aliasing around the wings. Did you leave it like that intentionally or did you simply forget the AA?

Other than that, I love it. And wow, 100 hours. I admire your patience.

(like when there's a 'tile space' that has 3 colors but registers as 4, disallowing me to edit it until I do so some odd change)

I hope you know that the 4th colour (the background colour) has to be the same over the entire picture, even when you're not using the background on one tile it still counts.
