General Discussion / Re: Sony closed down Lik-Sang

Shouldn't this be in off topic?

I don't see a real problem with it.  Sony can do what they like and I'd prefer to wait for an official release anyway.  Means they can probably sort out any problems with the machine by the time the UK gets it...and by the time I can afford one...

My PS2's done me well for the last 5 years or so anyway so I don't need to upgrade anytime soon.

helm - to make things tougher, you can onyl use the keyboard.

Yup, same goes for me.  All the Amstrad CPC pixel programs were used with either keyboard or joystick, and in the late 90's my mouse on my Amiga had failed and I couldn't afford a new one, so I ended up having to the Amiga's keyboard/mouse control thing (think it was hold down right Amiga key and cursor keys or something like that, been a long time), and all of my pixels from that period right up to about 2000 were done like that.  Maybe they could have been better, but that's the only way I could do them at that time.

I don't actually use a mouse much today either due to health problems which cause my wrist to shake too much to use a mouse accurately.

as far as ms paint goes, the most frustrating thing that i find is that you need to leave what you are working on and clikc on the palette (or worse, use the eyedropper tool) every time you want to change the active colors.  Other programs allow you to simply right-click on the color in the image to change the active color.

Actually I really hate that right clicking color picker and it's the main reason I find Graphics Gale annoying to use.  Maybe it's just that I grew up using Deluxe Paint for the most part and prefer having each mouse button be a separate color and use [ and ] to cycle through the colors in Pro Motion.

What gets me about MS Paint is that it's never been any good ever, especially once programs like Deluxe Paint started popping up and it's just amazed me that Microsoft have never seemed to really want it to be anything more than a quick doodling program.  Which sorta surprises me given their usual wanting people to use Microsoft stuff for everything.  Spent two years trying to use MS Paint on college computers and I just found it clumsy, awkward, painfully limited (especially when wanting to create animations) and usually just gave up and played Solitaire... and I hate Solitaire (thank god we went and installed Duke Nukem 3D on the college network).  Used to love going home at the end of the day just so I could get back on my Amiga and use DPaint III and later DPaint IV AGA (when I finally got given a copy).

I respect those people who do amazing work with MS Paint but I can't help wondering what they'd produce with far more efficient pixelling programs...

Gaikokujin > Arate (fresh troops, newcomer, new method)
Noubu > Kikori (Woodsman/Lumberjack)
Shonin > Yokujin (Hunter/Archer)

Looks good to me.  I wanna be that third one.

You should stick around for a little bit, Wolverine. See if it feels more like home this time around.

Ain't been too bad so far.  I'm trying not to get too involved mainly cos I'm still recovering from various health problems and extreme stress levels and even the smallest annoyance winds me up like crazy.  I ain't gonna be posting much art if any at all, mainly cos I'm at the stage where I just do it for me and have so much I wanna do I'd rather just get it all done and into games and get them out there rather than spending time doing adjustments based on other peoples opinions.  If it looks good to me, then I'm happy.  I'm more into the actual game creation aspects these days than pixel perfect art.  Anyways this place does feel better than Pixelopolis I guess.  And theres been some darn fine community stuff appear like that big tiled Iso piece (don't usually like iso work much cos it's usually just simple crap but that was just beautiful) and I had a bit of fun doing the avatar fad thing (which I'm probably gonna put in one of my retro games).  Yeah.. it's not too bad a place.

About the arm mostly. Colors too contrasty, too dark, too much seperation.

Far prefer the contrast in the first one to be honest.  Much more threatening looking and atmospheric.  The one on the right looks flattened and less three-dimensional...

Couldn't sleep (yet again...) so I put my headphones on and messed around with mine doing a simple animation.

The demon face flashing is a CPC version of my 'Amon - Apocalypse of Devilman' avatar I use on MSN and used to use as my DA icon.

It's not great but it'll do.

What's spelt wrong?  If you mean 'Faeries' then that ain't wrong, it's just an alternate spelling I reckon.
