Pixel Art / Re: for the love of pixels help me
« on: October 01, 2012, 11:30:05 pm »
Step 1: Open up your nearest image editing program.

Step 2: Draw the sprite in there, then upload that file here.

Then we can help.

Also at the right edge of your posts is a button that says "Modify". Use that instead of posting ten times in a row.

Also also, like XLR8ED says, put the image URL (the one you posted up there) in the middle of [ img ] [ /img ], without the spaces.

Pixel Art / Re: Whip Animation C&C

One big thing is that you're only rotating the arm on one axis. When you swing a whip, it's furthest back position is usually with your hand up by your head and your elbow even farther back. It's almost the same motion as throwing a football, so that might be a good thing to reference. Just make sure the arm isn't going straight up and down, pay attention to its depth.

That's really, really sexy. I can't wait to see it refined.

Right now the only thing that immediately feels off is the lighting from the sphere. It should probably either reflect off all the walls around it rather than only the bottom , or maybe just have something that blocks the light from reaching the upper half. Just so it makes sense.

Although looking at it more I can't tell if the room is supposed to spherical or if it has a floor at the bottom. If it's the latter then I guess the lighting works, but then there might be some problems with perspective.

Still, it looks great.

i dont need feedback from you... nor do i care what you have to say. Don't bash my art on one forums and then try to to give me advice or even talk about my art in another.

you see thats what we call being 2faced, how about you be yourself XLR8ED and say my art is ass ? nothings holding you back from doing it on naruto goa forums so why change it up because your on pixelation ?

I don't mean to vigilante mod or anything, but this is probably not a conversation that should be happening here. Take it to PMs or that other forum or whatever. Just a suggestion.

I've been riding a huge wave of nostalgia for the last few days so I went back to a Metroid fangame that took up most of my time four years ago, back when I had been pixeling for maybe a year.

Old stuff on the left, obviously. And I'm so glad I'm not stuck at that level anymore. Yay for natural improvement.

It's all really noisy. Looks good, but there's lots and lots and lots of detail, probably too much for ground tiles. A full mockup might show that better, but either way it helps to keep the level of detail low.

Sorry for the double post, but in a turn of events that shouldn't have surprised me one bit, this happened to show up today.

*sigh. Still appreciate the help, though.

Fighting games are cool. :y:
My guess is Garou: Mark of the Wolves (Also known as Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves).

That's it. And now I feel better about my competence, because I actually did come across it again while searching TSR but it didn't have the stages up anymore, so I naturally figured it wasn't the right one.

Anyway, thanks, I'll remember to save them this time.

General Discussion / Looking for a game
« on: August 08, 2012, 03:06:47 am »
It's a long shot to ask here, but a while back I saw some art from a game, found it on the Spriter's Resource and good times were had.

But then I forgot what it was and after a week of searching and asking around I haven't managed to find it again.

It's a fighting game, I'm not sure which system, but it was (obviously) pixel art, and some real sexy art at that. It wasn't one of the main franchises (SF, MvC, KoF, and all those), and it was something that I hadn't heard of before so it's probably relatively obscure, and most likely older, maybe around Genesis times.

I'm pretty sure some of the stages were named after the characters, like "X's Stage", at least at TSR, and were animated, and I think some of them had night versions. One of them was a dark city street with an train that would pass above the ground on an elevated track and shine lights on the buildings, and I think another one was in a jungle or something. And that's pretty much all I can remember.

So if anyone happens to have a guess I'd appreciate that, and I suppose the art itself is something everyone else can appreciate if it's found.

One other quick thing, I don't know if the outline is supposed to be part of the style but you can always get rid of it.

But that's just preference, not an improvement either way.
