Pixel Art / Re: [CC] #lowrezjam adventure game critique

It is very easy to read most things, so great job there.  The one exception is the red rug in the third picture.  The way that it interacts with the wall and the edge of the screen makes it look like it could be a tall object in front of the wall.

Yes, some people have more talent than others.  What's your point?  Only one person in the world has the most artistic talent.  Should he be the only artist? No, obviously not.  The US had 2.5 million professional artists in 2001.  When you factor in all of the non-professional artists and all of the other countries in the world you end up with tens of millions of artists in the world.  Imagine if they all gave up because they realized that some people are naturally more talented than others.

Instead of being discouraged by great artists you should be inspired.  Learn from them and just do your best.  You're already better than I am and I have no shame in my abilities.

Both of his feet are in front of his center of mass and his thighs are horizontal.  The result is that he looks like he is sitting in an invisible chair.  This is the main problem that I see, but the back arm looks kind of awkward.  I really like the overall character and pose.

MysteryMeat is right about the guy blending into the hills.  The image's value structure is weak.  Here is what you have:

far: bright sun and sky
medium-far: mid-bright hills
medium-near: mid-dark tower
near: mid-bright character.

So overall it looks like you are making farther away things brighter, and closer things darker.  That works and makes sense given where you've placed the light source (the sun).  The problem is that the knight's level of brightness is too similar to the hills, meaning that he gets lost among them.  To fit with the rest of your image he should be darker, the darkest thing in the image.

The fact that the knight is a different hue is not that important.  Value is far more important than hue, even among those of us with normal color vision.

The orange hair on the side reads as arms.  Where are her real arms?  Are they supposed to be hidden somewhere?  If so, I think that you've set yourself upon an impossible task.  Her hair is going to read as arms no matter how well you draw it.

I think that her eyes are adorable.

What is an autotile?

As for your art: It isn't clear to me how this would be used.  It almost looks like a floor to me.  I think that people would be better able to critique if you showed it in context (a mocked-up scene using these tiles along with some other tiles, monsters, doors, etc...)

General Discussion / Re: Sprite tile sizes, what should I know?

There is absolutely no technical reason to restrict yourself to powers of 2 unless you are using ancient hardware.  Odd dimensions, even dimensions, etc.... all work just as well.  I think that his argument about centering is good for handling collision with round sprites (such as bullets/fireballs), so if the programmer wants to go with odd sprites I don't see why not.  If the programmer doesn't care, then let the artist decide which dimensions to use.

You have four pinks in the head but you are barely using two of them.  Compare how you used them with how you used the four tans in the collar.  In the collar you are using them to show the form; do the same for the head.

The whole image lacks contrast between the shades.  This is especially true in the collar.

Great pose, very feminine.  I disagree with Wes's edit.  I see wings on one half of her but not the other.  Are they supposed to be at an angle where we can't see them?  I think that we would see them at least partially.
