Can u actually do us a favour mate and repost it all without scaling up the images? As mentioned, the forum has a scaling feature. I  frequently check this forum on my phone and some of the larger blowups won't even fit on screen...

Alot of stuff needs to get fixed. perspective of background is completely wrong I would trash that, draw in perspective lines (google if u dont know how) and post again. Then I think people can help u fix mario before moving any further. Have u thought about what he is kicking? Or is he doing a john cleese silly walk?

Yeah better. try making torso and head move up one pixel for the first arm frame, then another pixel for the second frame to make it smoother (repeat for both arms obviously). :y:

Ok didn't get to working on animation but been pushing pixels for a few hours on various stuff so thought I would post the progression I've made with the default player stance.
Happy enough with colours but if anyone has any tips or crits please share.
Having some trouble with the shield too, can't quite resolve it :-/

Can u make the backgrounds images larger and less repeated and be bolder with ur shapes to break it up instead of a single horizontal line?

I dont know what the metal thing is supposed to be but try removing all the outlines from inside the object. Black outlines in every detail looks wrong while also greatly limiting what u can do with the precious pixels.

I'm on my phone so ill just say that  from reading the game concept it sounds really interesting and leads me to think of other really cool rewards like submarines for exploring greater distances off the oxygen/power feed. Eventually perhaps drone subs which dont require oxygen feed but still need to recharge batteries. And subs need little arms and cargo bays, oxygen tanks, power cells, hull plating etc so...upgrades :-)
Some of this may conflict with ur other ideas, but not necessarily.
Will there be any combat?

Thanks for feedback guys i'll update when my gf leaves me alone long enough to keep working it lol.
I couldn't decide how cartoony or realistic to make it but maybe ill just go all realistic animation like flashback. Makes all the other characters harder though. Need so much more practice!!

Ok haven't posted anything in a while been so busy but started working on a running animation last couple of nights.

I know there is appearing and dissapearing details but I'm not going to detail it until I'm happy with the movement.
All feedback welcome - especially any advice on how to fix the head placement as it is jittering around at the moment and I'm going blind from staring at the frames >.<
