Pixel Art / Skull Practice
« on: January 12, 2013, 08:56:55 am »
I've been working on this to improve and practice after taking a long break from pixel art, as I'd like to eventually make from half decent graphics for my small game projects.

I feel like I'm just filling in "blank" spaces with dithering because I'm not sure what else to. Mainly near the upper jaw/nose and top of the skull.
Other areas I feel need some work is colours, highlighting in the "teeth" and such, but I'm not sure where to go from here.

I'll continue working on it, but some feedback at this stage would be helpful.

hey, great piece. the only things i can immediately notice are:

the shading on his innner right thigh seems a little harsh. i would say try to blend it in a bit more with the surrounding colours, but not too much, as i can see you may be going for the rubber pants, style.  :P

also some green areas look a bit pillow shaded, even though they are dithered

ah good ol' Terror Raven. it kind of seems like his head is stuck to his right shoulder, or that could just be his lack of neck.
anyways, great job ;)

Pixel Art / NES stuff

i dunno if this is really the place to do it, but ill start with a bit of my pixeling background. i first
got interested in pixeling/spriting when i was starting to program some simple games, which lead
to me wanting to make my own sprites. i was a member of pixelation for a while, i didnt post
many pieces, but i drifted around the forums quite a bit.

ok thats enough of that, onto the post.

heres some of my older better work...

(sorry about the "non-transparencyness" of those two  >_> )

comments? crits? all will be appreciated.
