Pixel Art / Platform Game Project Forest BG [WIP]

Its been awhile since I last posted on here, I have been at hard work trying to get better with my pixel art.  Here is a rough interpretation of what the forest level for my game will look like.  Comments and Crits are always welcomed.

The trees are all parallax layers.  I had some far off hills in the distance originally and some clouds but with all the trees it looked messy and cluttered.  Any ideas on what to put back there or is blue sky nice as is.

Pixel Art / [Wip] Art Style Test Platformer Game

So I am new here and new to pixel art.  This is my first serious project made completely out of pixel art.  I am currently in development of a XNA platformer game.  This is no representation of what the final product will look like but I would love crits on my pixel work, character design, color choices, etc.  I put this scene together using random sprites I have made thus far but before I continue any further I want to know how people interpret the style and look of the game. Give it to me guys I am eager to learn and fix things.

General Discussion / Sprites made in Photoshop issue

So I have started making all of my sprites in Photoshop just because that is all I know.  I use the pencil tool to paint and the pencil eraser to erase.  My issue I have as of lately is that whenevery I fill with the paintbucket on a marqueed area I get aliased fuzzy borders around the perimeter of the sprite, which is very annoying.  My question is, is there a way in photoshop to use the paintfill option without getting aliased edges on a marqueed area?

Or is this question pretty much invalid and I should be using a better program to make sprites?
