Pixel Art / Dinko, the kobold
« on: January 24, 2010, 07:31:31 pm »
Yeah, hello again. After being absent for a while, which you likely didn't notice, i've made something that could use some critique.

I've dared to call him finished, but i would like to see if/what i could improve on him. His overall appearance is inspired by the kobolds in Dungeons & Dragons, though i've taken no references outside my head. The thingmabob on the right doesn't really need any attention, as it's just there for Dinko to poke at. He's an awfully curious fellow. :U

C&C would be much appreciated. ;D

Edit: Newest version:

Will update this post continuously. C&C still appreciated.

Pixel Art / A lone tree in need of criticism
« on: December 15, 2009, 08:07:23 pm »

1st revision (minor):

2nd revision:

I'm not quite sure what i am to say here. It's a tree, and the top of it was made to help a certain Micintexp (whose thread should be visible as well). Then i decided to finish the tree alltogether. What's good, what could be better and such? Also, i'm not sure about whether i should give it an outline or not. An outline would make it more "flexible", but i also kinda like the clean look it has without one. I also think that i might have made it an etch too bulbous, but i'd like to hear what you think before i do anything rash.

Things worth knowing:
- I'm using a limited palette, from the game Cortex Command, once again.
- I'd prefer sticking to this palette, but it's not a must.
- I didn't take any references outside my head.

Pixel Art / Carnivorous plant

So yeah, this is what i have:

The color palette is from a game called Cortex Command, which happens to use magenta as transparency. I also made a version with a gray background, for ease of viewing, seeing that magenta is a pretty... Vivid color. But anyways, what i'm looking for is advice on how i could make him look better. One thing in particular would be the stalk; namely how it appears perpendicular to the camera, instead of "pointing" in the opposite direction of the head. I'm also not entirely satisfied with the overall look of the stalk, but any attempts at making it look better have failed. The image isn't WIP per sé, it's just that i think it could be better in some regards, but i don't know how to make it so.

Oh, and as a final note, please don't be too harsh with the criticism. ;)
