2D & 3D / Feedback please
« on: October 25, 2017, 08:28:29 am »
Hello,

I need to make clear I'm not a pixel artist at all, I tried to train myself to make pixel art for some time but this is proving too hard for me so my hat off to all of you talented people.

Now, I was able to make this character and I will be able to make "anything" I will need in the future following the same techniques I used  to make this one but I wonder from the perspective of skilled artists how bad is it? what should I try to improve? is it good enough?

I will use all assets done with this technique in a project I been working on.

Job offers / Looking for a pixel artist

Hello, I'm looking for a pixel artist to handle characters and basic animations for those characters, I have a low budget but hopefully we will be able to reach an agreement, I'm also willing to revenue share if the artist sees potential in my project.

2D & 3D / Veteran 3D technician trying pixel art for the first time

Hello,

I been doing modeling, texturing, rigging, animations and shaders for games for several years, if required I can provide links to my portfolio and samples of animations, rigs, shaders, etc, (I refrain from posting that right now because I don't want to break any rules)

OK now as I said I'm brand new at pixel art and by experimenting with some ideas I was able to render 3D images out of a 2D engine using pixel art and of course it does look kind of boring and that's what I need help with.

Please check this video to see the 3D effect I was able to render on the 2D engine:

I would love to experiment with this idea a lot more and see how much more can be squeezed out of it, I already stablished a pipeline to create at a fast speed the images needed to create this kind of effect but it comes out with flat colors (as in the video) so I strongly suspect these images will require the retouch of a skilled pixel artist.

So right now it would be good to know what you think about that car? colors are poorly mixed? shape does not help? any comment or critique is welcome. If there is an adventurous soul who wants to join me in this experiment please contact me.

Thank you for your time and I'm sorry for the long post.
