Pixel Art / Sunset background

Hey all its been a while since i had a chance to do some pixel art.  Finally had some downtime and was able to continue with a pixel art course i picked up on udemy. On of the challenges was a background piece. Wanted to know what you guys thought.

I have done very little work with crystals and i am having a hard time getting this to look right.... I have tried to look up reference materials but so far haven't found something that really shows what im trying to do.  It is supposed to be a "dead" crystal embedded into the floor tile. image will be seen at 2x resolution in game. here are 2 different ideas for the crystal. It is wrapped with black iron...

These are all still in rough draft form. Im more or less happy with the movement animations but im sure they can use a bit it of work. The three attack animations are really rough atm, I cant decide on a good regular attack for this slime. I dont want him to do projectiles only melee attacks for now. the attack animations dont have any body movement yet, I wanted to decide on the attack before I made the body move.

I am still very new to the basics of animation and can use all the feedback anyone is willing to give.  This was an attempt at making a soft round object bounce a little and spin, throwing off a bit of goo as it goes. It is a VERY rough attempt! I am just trying to get the basics of this motion and I know this isn't right, but I am hoping I am on the right track.

 A tileset Im working on, it will be viewed at 2x this size. Im pretty happy with how this came out although the piece of broken pillar on the ground dose not feel quite right and I am having a hard time figuring out what it needs. Other than that any critiques are most welcome.

Just a slightly unconventional tree I was messing around with, yes the I was attempting to use the mid tone as the outline for most of the other leaves... I liked the cut out look. would love to heart peoples thoughts on it!

General Discussion / Game tilesets and asset sizes

So like so many people I have an idea for a game, what I want to know is how to figure out what size to do the tilesets and art work for the game. I have played around with everything from 16x16 through 128x128 size tiles for the tilesets and I'm having a problem trying to figure out what size will work best with the idea I have for the game. Any suggestions on game design mock up tutorials or just general advice would be most welcome  :-[

Hello all, it's been quite awhile since I was last on this forum.  :blind:

 My question for today is the size of the tiles for a game. I have made a mock up of 2 different size tile sets both with a slime entity as a reference for the game entity sizes.
Neither tile set is actually complete they are both just rough drafts. so it is not really the art work im looking for a critique on at the moment. should i consider shrinking the enemies and character? or stay with the bigger sizes?
tile set is 64x64
tile set is 128x128
