General Discussion / Good platformer games?

Does anyone know any good 5/5 star action platform games? I'm looking for one that isn't a: collectathon, puzzle focused, metroidvania/exploration/backtracking, or have grinding.

The only ones I've really liked that I can remember at the moment are: Batman, Shatterhand, Ninja Gaiden 3, Castlevania, Castlevania Rondo of Blood, Metal Slug. Anyone have any suggestions, I'm hoping there are more good platformers out there?

Is someone able to make a list of terms and define them? Or link to a site that has done this? There's lots of words that new people might not understand, like banding, clusters etc. etc. so it would be nice to have a thread that can contain all the words in one place.

Pixel Art / Roman sword/walk animation

Just looking for some feedback on my roman soldier guy.

Walk animation


Sword animation
v1. v2. v3. v4.


My main concern is with the sword animation, is the sword motion okay? Does the head and legs need to move? I can't seem to figure out what to do. I'm not the best animator.
Any advice/criticism/etc. would be greatly appreciated.

I'm just wondering how these tiles are coming along. Any feedback would be incredible


I'm trying to do them in a perspective similar to Zelda's, although I'm mainly concerned about the left ramp, is it very readable/understandable?



tile size is 10x10 btw.

I'm probably most concerned with his attack animation and crouching ones.
