Pixel Art / [WIP][C+C] Main Menu Landscape
« on: August 26, 2018, 11:44:58 pm »

So I drew this landscape of sorts today with the intention of using it as a main menu for a game. I think I did alright in general but there's a few things I'm concerned about and I'm not sure how to go about fixing it (if it needs to be fixed).

1. The dithering in the sky. I use one pattern throughout the whole piece and maybe it gets too repetitive in the cloudy areas. I may just be paranoid though.

2. What do I do with all the free space in the bottom areas? Do I even need to fill it out? (Because as things stand most of it is probably going to filled with the title.)

3. Do the button and title placements look natural? Do they screw with the "balance" of things? (The excessive black space stretching horizontally is there in case the user presses 'load' and the menu needs to display a list of save files)

4. The point of the landscape and the placement of stuff is to give the viewer a sense of scale and "awe". Not sure if I achieved that.

I'm rather new to this whole main menu design thing and advice would be greatly appreciated!
(Title and buttons arent drawn yet because I don't completely have the theme aspect of the game down yet, I swear its not because I'm lazy.)

Pixel Art / [C + C] Dullahan (tips on lighting and shading)
« on: October 07, 2016, 04:32:17 pm »

This here is something I recently finished more or less to the best of my ability. There's not really a whole lot of things I can come up with to improve it. Which is why I'm posting it here to try and get some feedback on things I can do that I'm not aware of. :v

Pixel Art / [WIP] Help request for an RPG UI
« on: August 19, 2016, 10:47:17 pm »

I've been trying to draw an RPG scene I have in my head but I'm rather inexperienced when it comes to UI design. ^ This is all I got so far. I plan on putting the party member names in the space on the left but the problem isn't exactly the space. The UI doesn't feel...composed? It just look like boxes and stuff pasted onto a blank background. The icons and stuff look out of place I guess, like the whole thing doesn't really come together.

Any tips on how better to make a more composed UI? Maybe it has to do with shading? Or not enough detail or designs? I'm not really sure anymore. I'd like an outside perspective on this. :o

(Sorry for the confusing terminology, I'm not exactly sure how to describe the problem. It just doesn't feel right.)

Pixel Art / Requesting feedback for jump slash animation!

Like the title says, I'm hoping for some feedback on the animation. Especially the sword blur, I am absolute trash at that. :<
