Pixel Art / Game Art [Just a Plant]
« on: March 02, 2008, 11:54:37 pm »

My own colours and everything :D.

I'm trying to be influenced by Fool's work (probably my favourite pixel artist) because I want to design games and his art is really fun to look at and, as far as I understand, it reads well which is a big bonus with game art. So I'm asking for critique that directs me towards his way of doing things, if you think my reasons are correct for wanting to emulate his style.

Here's a piece that I like a lot: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/28342.htm

Pixel Art / [WIP] Monster

I think I'm getting better (a least a tinie weenie bit). This was the result of a doodle.

P.S. I've got my hands on 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain', it's pretty cool.

Pixel Art / Learning to see and not just look
« on: October 01, 2007, 08:46:40 pm »

I'm pretty mathematical and I always resort to the same simple processes with art and I'm pretty sure it's stopping me from learning. Does anyone have an approach that I could use that might open my mind to more then what I'm seeing at the moment. I really want to get good!

General Discussion / Midis and Games
« on: August 20, 2007, 05:09:00 pm »
Hi, I put up this post in the OT-Creativity thread and interrupted a discussion about someone's artwork by mistake because I didn't read the thread but I didn't disturb it thankfully.
Anyway, I wanted to start a new thread with it because feedback would be cool.
The content is music composition and programming.

I've made some midis with "Midi Maker", thought I would post on here.

Most of them aren't complete tunes.

Oh and here is a compilation of two games I've programmed with Visual Basic;
Minesweeper and Tetris. The graphics are poor, sorry!

Here are links to each midi for those without an unzipper:

Pixel Art / Face Study
« on: July 24, 2007, 02:25:03 am »
Hello, I've made a character portrait for a game and I'm in need of some pixelling tips. Please comment, I really value the help here.

P.S. I need an idea for a generic background to go with any portrait, like a pattern or something that doesn't distract from the character.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Grass To Dirt Tiles
« on: June 25, 2007, 12:02:43 am »
I'm looking for a way to join these grass and dirt terrains in all directions from an isometric perspective. I had a go in the example bellow, which I quite like, but I’m having trouble replicating that style, especially in the lower half of the circle where the join will be covered by grass. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks.
