Unpaid Work / Graphics Based MUD

Graphics Based MUD

Hello my name is Dan. My idea is for a Dungeons and Dragons-esque multiplayer MUD.

Game Idea: The vision for the game is to make a mostly Roleplay driven world! Now what is a "mostly Roleplay driven world"? Its a world molded, and crafted by the players and the decisions that they make.

Why a roleplay game: I chose roleplay because it adds a whole new layer of depth and immersion. It also adds a new level of interactions between the characters, and the world. Though, there will still be a conventional pvp option for those who prefer that.

Setting: The game setting will be in the modern day, but in a different world that abides by different rules.

What is needed: Due to the immersive nature of the game I would need a vibrant environment. The perspective will be in a topdown view.  So I would enjoy someone who can make decent environments like: houses, furniture, trees, grass, water, etc.

Past Experience: I have helped developed a small pvp anime game in the past called Bleach: Las Noches. I was the lead programmer for the game.

What I have so far in terms of pixel art has been made by only artist, who has only be making art for a month. The art Im about to post is for "perks". Perks individualize the players, and highlight them by their skills and often give them a special edge, sort of like Fallout.

Pixel Art / Critique on my first pixel arts?
« on: June 13, 2016, 01:29:36 am »
The 128x128 grass is a compilation 32x32 I made. I made the other 16x16 just to start light. Please be honest and in depth with your critiques.

General Discussion / Re: Can anyone become a pixel artist?

The example you posted would be considered beginner level.

With that being said it really shows me how far I need to come if those are considered beginner level arts. I, being the new artist I am, thought that was pretty good. Thank you for your insight

Pixel art is 90% normal drawing and 10% pixel specific technique.
If you are a person who drew for all their life and already made experiences in various mediums, it' sno problem to learn to pixel stuff in the quality of your examples in a week - because the pixel aspect is the smaller aspect you have to master.

If you are a beginner at art who starts out just now and you never have made any art experiences so far, "a couple of weeks" simply isn't enough to get as good as people who devoted years and time of their childhood in developing these skills.

I thank you as well.

General Discussion / Can anyone become a pixel artist?

I dont feel particularly art inclined or like an artist at all. I just want to be able to do fairly high quality art as a pixel artist. Can anyone become a pixel artist?I want to be able to make art like "This" http://imgur.com/a/HY9Tv in a couple weeks. Is it even possible?

Unpaid Work / [REVSHARE] Update: Graphical MUD
« on: June 10, 2016, 12:34:17 am »
My vision is to make a free MUD with a special twist on it. What is a MUD? A MUD is an online environment that allows players to connect and "role-play" as a character. Most of the time these games do not have any graphics and are strictly text based. I want to bring the game to life with graphics, specifically pixel art.

Platform/Genre: Windows/MUD(RPG)

Progress: So far, I, the lone programmer have completed the movement system, attack system, death system. Though all with choppy animations because that is not my thing.

Current Team: Myself(Programmer)
Experience: I am a beginner - intermediate. I am pretty confident in my skills to take on this fairly simple project.

Team Members I'm Looking For:
Programmer(Intermediate at least)
Pixel Artists ( That can make decent quality to start off)
Animator
Mapper

P.S. There is money to be made.

Hello, my name is Joshua. I am a soon to be junior in high school. For about the past year and a half I have been mastering this programming language on a site named BYOND. I think I'm proficient enough to implement the complex code that'll be needed for the type of game play I want.

The game will be a role-play game loosely wrapped around the universe of Hunter x Hunter. This will not be your typical role-play game where you just grind to become powerful. You must immerse yourself into your character the choices you make and how you interact with other players will determine everything in your characters world.

Im sorry if I am not describing this to your liking, its just that this is my first time really marketing myself and the game. If you dont think that this game will be that successful BYOND thrives on games such as the one Ive described above, they need something new like this one!

The things I need for the person(s) interested in this position are:
    Experience
Able to draw in manga style
    Good with animations(really important)
Can make a varying range of pixel (ex. 32x32, 74x74)
    Can draw portraits
Friendly, and wants to see the game through along with interested in the game.

The money you can make from BYOND can be great, so whoever accepts this position I will try to make sure that you do get compensated. All I need is for you to put in some work so we can make a great game!
