General Discussion / Re: Graphics Gale Question

Well, with resample, if you open the window it allows you to specify new dimensions for the sprite.
If you, for instance, change it from 96x96 to 32x32, it'll 'squash' the sprite into the new dimensions (And will definitely lose lots of detail and quality).
Making the size higher (Say, 128x128), stretches the sprite out. In some cases, this is salvageable, but will look odd.

To crop, you use the Rectangle tool to select a region. When you have a region selected, you can select the crop tool. This will cut out everything outside the rectangle.

Pixel Art / A rat and the hunters [C+C]
« on: November 20, 2013, 07:40:58 pm »
Near the beginning of the year, I was working on a game called "Hunter", and at some point decided to challenge myself and create a rat enemy, with some interesting animations.
Unfortunately, after working for two months on the game, I was blindsided by computer troubles, and of course I'd forgotten to at least back up my art.

All I have left to remember my work by is this rat: (Animation speed seems to be a bit too fast in the browser)

And a few of the player armors:

And a mockup level:

The rest of my art is kinda preserved on Youtube. I'd made a few progress showcases over time. Here's my 'highlight' one.

Now, I know it's a dead project, and the quality of the YT video is not really good enough to warrant it... but I'd love a bit of critique on my work, honest and harsh!  :)

You can either use All Frames->Enlarge Canvas, Crop or Resample. Resample is the class 'squishy' resize that most paint programs have.
To use Crop, you have to select a region with one of the selection tools first.

General Discussion / Re: Read the Rules, then introduce yourself here.

Hello everybody,
I've been drawing pixel art for my games for some time, and have read a lot of the interesting guidelines and tips on this site over that time; so I decided to join up, so I can receive critique directly on my work!
I tend to prefer working with pixel art that uses a limited palette, and many of my games use restrictions on the art that resemble those of the NES/Famicom; I feel that this allows me to discipline myself and come up with creative uses for the few colors I have.

My avatar was, for the most part, pixel art. The keen eye will notice the cotton-wool. I added that via GIMP later, and regret it now (Clouds and fog aren't that difficult to draw). Lost the source project a long time ago.
