Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] Game Character
« on: January 27, 2014, 05:10:49 am »
I Use Photo Bucket to upload my pixel art it works great. Also don't forget the [img] tags. As for your head i can't tell you anything because its just a head  :P. What you need to do is make a list of charters in your game that you want. Then start thinking about how you want each one to look. If you get stuck you can always look at photos of other peoples interpretations. Once you have a clear idea, draw a basic rough sketch of the way you want it to look in pixel art. Then just refine the piece of art and then your done  ;D.

I agree with you i like the 17 color one more. You just need to darken its colors a bit they are over saturated.

I really like the new frontal view he looks good. I like the one on the left more, because the one on the right looks a bit squished. As for the samurai if you do what you said, I think he will turn out very nice. Good job  :y:

First the samurai looks good except for two things: 1 it looks like the hand on the left is touching the sword, which would hurt  :ouch:. 2 unless you want him to look like a cartoon get rid of the blue bit and give him a more defined chin. If you do these two things I think he would look great. Next the nerd well, he looks like a nerd (and a cool one ) :P. Finally the frontal view, I would redo his right side like his left side then wold try to animate him, by lifting an arm and lifting the opposite leg, also I would shrink his head a bit. That is all the advice i can give. sorry i cant post picks right now so busy  :'(.

What size is he going to be? What is his color scheme? What are his goals in the game? Once i know those it would be a lot easier to help.

Pixel Art / Re: In-Space....What its a space ship :D C + C

I brightened it up a bit, and made all the lighting come from the front instead of the tiny bit you had brighter at the back. I think you have a very nice piece you just want to make sure all the lighting comes from one way. Otherwise i don't have anymore criticism for this ship except make more  :).

Keep making pixel art for the next few weeks. If you still enjoy it then keep doing it, otherwise there are plenty of other ways to make art. Dithering is not necessary and if you use it there is usually a better way to get the effect you want. Some of the common ways are to match opposite colors, like if you are using orange then blue is the opposite. Another way is to just stick to either cold or warm colors. Finally the most risky way is to do what looks good to you a dangerous undertaking and can be scary if you are new (but it is the most fun  :)). Anyways to sum it up just do what feels right to you. You make the best art when you are enjoying yourself that's my feeling. Good luck and keep pixeling!

Pixel Art / [WIP][C+C] Alien Spaceship Firing - Updated! (2 more ships)
« on: September 29, 2013, 12:00:11 am »
Hi, I started making pixel animations a few months ago, and really enjoyed it. Now I am working on my first game with a few friends, so I wanted to see if I could get a few pointers on my animations and art. This is one of my first ships for the game, so I am looking for ways to improve it. This ship is not based on anything, I made it up myself. If anyone has cool ideas to add extra detail to the spaceship, that would be really helpful.

Here are a couple more ships I am working on:

I kind of like the shading, but think they may be a little flat or to regular. Also, does the animation look smooth? I think it could look more energized but am not sure how. I'm open to any comments.

Thanks :)
