Pixel Art / Miss Llamerica :O
« on: September 14, 2005, 12:18:55 pm »
A pixel version of some sketch I received.

10 colors

It originally had an MTV logo, but I took them off at the end
(The whole sketch was revolving around the "MTV made" program idea, as a parody, where a llama was transformed into "Miss Llamerica", and the llama thing came after playing too much with the sims2 university extension, where they had this llama dude)

Uhm feel free to c&c
Oh and special thanks to ptoing and pHASE1 for the crits while I was doing it.

This will probably make me sound like a lame ass or something at this point, but all this election thing got me thinking, and er... yeah power nor high ranks are my thing at all, nor responsability in a huge waz I guess.
As sedgemonkey mentioned in my thread, I can still help without any special rank nor stuff.
I just found today something more important to spend my time on, and would like to dedicate more time on it, so er... yeah dropping off this thing, throwing the towel and coming back to my way.
It was nice dreaming, but yeah, gotta feed myself.
Ah well, good luck to the rest, and well feel free to close my thread :0

Flaber and Niss: Well, as for lotteries I had in mind do them either monthly or bimonthly, and the system I was thinking about was pretty much something like this:
Whenever you participate on an activity you are allowed to pick a number (dumdumdum) and once you collect er.. let's say "n-numbers" you can sign in for a list (or something similar), and then from those participants, one should be picked randomly and that person could win something.
And as for that something I had in mind something more game directed stuff, I dont know, X-cartridge for blahblah, or X program, or X-thingthatpeoplemightlike (and X without any subtle meaning, just take it as a "whatever game" or "whatever program")
At first I think I could use some spare cash for the prizes, but if donations are made, it could be great too.
Not really sure to say "THIS IS WHAT I'M GOING TO DO", but pretty much more a "THIS IS WHAT I HAVE IN MIND"
And as for the edutaiment thing, well, at first I had in mind doing it myself, but if there is anybody who is more experienced for the area and suited for showing how to, we could always ask for his/her help, so nothing to worry about I guess.

Faceless: Haha, finally you signed in.
Well, I didnt have much time for banners :0 (and I'm not exactly at home right now so)
But Pep made one (thanks btw! :D) so all good I guess
:O

What types of challenges and activities do you believe are the best for the forum? Is there a way that activities can be designed in order to attract new members, or perhaps aimed towards a particular type of member, such as Doll editors, Editor/Rippers, or Demoscene/Retro enthusiasts? How about attracting an 'ideal' member: What does that mean to you? Thanks!

Sorry, I've been out of town (more like country actually) and didnt have time to log on the net, so yeah, hope you dont mind the delay replying.
Well, more or less, the activities I had in mind were more like "edutaiment" like stuff, convining pixel art with other kind of stuff like study of facial expressions, fonts, different POVs, along with more practical and usable stuff, like smiley making, or icon making, or tileable wallpaper and stuff.
Activities that could attract anybody, and well at the same time, somehow creative, activites that let you practice something different.
What do you think about it?

Oh and for those other who posted, thanks for the support :D

sedgemonkey: Thanks, though I dont believe in luck.
As for what you mentioned, What makes you think that whatever the candidates say cannot be done without a special position?
I like to think that this whole thing is pretty much for adquiring a special motivation rather than a special position.
It's just another (candy coated) stick-and-carrot system. You get the responsability of having to "take care" of the community and represent them, but adquiring that special position is what keeps you going. (As an example, why would you work for free if you can work earning money?) Pretty much, just playing with that "power-sick" part of the human nature. Now not looking like a tyrant is what makes you a good "superior"
Anyway, I just carried it off topic :P

Peppermint Pig: Thanks, we'll see what I can do

Alright, I'll try to make this without sounding cheesy at all.

As probably lots of you, pixelation was what made go into pixelart, and go deep into it (without any subtle meaning of course)
At times I pretty much disagreed with the whole concept it had, its system etc, even thought about taking a rest from pixelation.
But after this huge break without it, I just kept thinking about it, and I miss that pixelation I found when I first joined, all those community projects going around, the groups thing, and that community feeling.
So now that I got a chance, I would like to help.

While I think "promising" is something too hard to say and actually do, at least I'll try my best to bring back that feeling, that pixelation we had before, but at the same time, something newer. A mix of the "old and new era"
I pretty much have in mind, quite a few activities already, weekly and seasonal; lotteries and contests, and much more.
Also that so talked community game, if well managed and with enough interest, could be produced; and even could be made as a little competition to spice it up, so people push themselves, learn and have fun at the same time
(but that can be talked later :P).

Now as for the technical part, I can pretty much say that I'm around the forum quite a lot  (check the forum stats to see who has been the most online around ::) ); so people can approach to me easily (via PM or something similar, and even in either English, Spanish or Japanese!) if needed. I read all the posts and threads as they are made so I pretty much know what's going on, and could even interact with it.

And uhmm that's pretty much all I can say from the top of my head right now, but you get the point.
So that's what I give. Now take or leave it :0

Does becoming a representative mean that I would be able to get a bamboo stick under my rank? ;)  ::)
