I just finished a requested Darth Vader head sprite, so I've decided to post it here for opinions on the piece.

And there are a lot of outlines. And the proportions are off. Unless it's a caricature. Even then, very odd, don't you think?

There's a good explanation of banding and how to avoid it in this forum post if you scroll down a bit.

It's explained a lot better there than I could myself.
I can see your banding in the back flap thing of Vader's helmet. You have a lot of 1 pixel wide, diagonal lines touching each other. Also in the top right part of his head, just above his eyes, on the right side of his nose thingy, and at the base of his neck. There are a lot of highlights hugging the outline too closely.
