there are a few issues with his six-pack/chest. unless he's wearing the world's tightest tanktop, his muscles wouldn't look that defined through it. also, the middle of his six pack doesn't meet up with his belt, making it look like one of the two is cock-eyed.

His head also needs to be bigger, he looks a bit comically muscley atm.

Other than that, you've picked some nice colours and your hands are lovely!

heyy. thanks a lot for all the help!

i've messed about with the colours and taken everyone's edits into consideration.

i had no idea what i was going to do with the hands as they're my weakest area, i would have mentioned something after I realised but I fell asleep pretty much straight after I posted it :P

i'm still not happy with it though and I'm not sure what looks wrong... it just does.

edit: just had another play about with him...

still no luck on the transparent graphicsgale front though. looks like i'll have to find £14 from somewhere  :P

does the sprite have to be that size?

if not, maybe you could make the head a little bigger to allow some more detail.

the brown pixel under the nose looks a little bit like a moustache, perhaps bin it?

i really like the style of your sketch, it's a shame that the small sprite size can't do it justice.

Hey!

I posted a sprite a while back and realised I'd not really shown my best work, so I've been practising all on my own and have developed my skills a wee bit.

At the end of the day, you learn by critique so I thought i'd post this base sprite. This one is the most important, it's not even close to 100% finished yet, but I need some guidance from someone other than my missus :P

18 colours incl. transparency

apologies for the hideous magenta... not sure how to export transparent png's with graphicsgale  :(

thanks for having a butchers!

I think for a body so skinny, there shouldn't be so much definition in the abs or chest. Maybe some strategic shading would work better. his right leg looks a lot better now though :)

I've tried to separate the shoulders from the hair and also added the darkest hair colour in that big blotch of purply shadow as well. Also changed the face a bit, sorry for the quick and dirty edit :P

the colour scheme is really nice, it's got a really nice GBA feel to it. I think her left foot somehow needs to be fattened a tad as it looks a little too thin at the moment.

the pose and facial expression seem a little too static right now, i think i remember roll being quite flirty/bubbly, so maybe that needs to come out more in the style.

hope this helps :D

mind pulling the whole head a few pixels to the right so it rests on his shoulders a bit more naturally?

the face anatomy is fine, the style reads perfectly, I don't think there is any need for disambiguation there

you are loosing some of the expression from the sketch to the pixel image

thanks a lot :) cracked the head 2 pixels to the left:

I think I'm preferring the pixel image to the sketch really, the sketch's proportions are way off but at the time seemed perfectly fine. Anders is only meant to be a kid and I think the original sketch and pixel portrait made him seem a little too old. I might think about trying out some different facial expressions once my Vaio gets fixed :)

Tourist: Thanks a lot for the help; I knew some stuff was wrong with him but I didn't quite know where to start. Really helped me out with what was wrong.

I hate to say "Oh yeah that's just my style" but as far as the eyes go, that sort of is my style (http://cagd.leedsmet.ac.uk/media/6/063668_5bf5dd_h.jpg?r=40251515), though I did make a few adjustments based on the comments :D

old new

Oh the blue thing on his cheek was supposed to be a tribal marking of some sort, silly decision on my part to make it the same colour as the hair.
