I think it's more the pose when he kicks isn't back enough, you might have a better time if you set the leg up hard-vertical instead of at a 45 degree angle like it is

i think it may be a problem with the sketch, did you start this as a stick skeleton ir a gesture? try doing a couple if either, see what works for you

it might help to use a photo of a skull for reference here. The head's a lot longer than people realize starting out, it's less a sphere and more a weird flat bean shape with the sides shaved down

something about the colors makes that arm and waist thing read as part of a bright bubble jacket. I'd actually suggest trying that out as a simpler outfit option that will also help balance out his color scheme
