Well since there hasn't been much action here I figured I'd post what I'm up to. You guys set the bar really high this time with the first tiles, now I'm catching up BIG time to try and reach a comparable level of detail  ;D

Behold the strawberry alien monsters and the frosted chocolate fudge volcano! (*heavy* WIP)

okay, sweet. your tile is way better than mine...  :P
not experienced with working with limited color palettes.
is there any tiles left?
man, this filled up quickly. can't wait to see this finished!

here is my final entry, unless theres some more critique:

I got a crit, the perspective is looking a little off. The top of the objects should be more visible in this isometric perspective, but what you are giving is almost a straight-on view.

good point. maybe ill make the crater have smoke or something... who's below me? anyone?

What he meant was... You're trying to draw a rough terrain, and yet your tile's edges are perfectly straight, it has no depth. Look at other people's tiles for reference and go crazy :)

The bottom of tile 35 is just cut off. Shouldn't it have a bit more irregular edge or something?

He probably wanted to leave it to the guy that's assigned to tile 48 to handle.

Amazing job, Skurvy! But... That purple does not compute!

Damn! Desert, forest, ice, lava.... Now all we need is a "Casino Night" tile, and we have Sonic 2.

That's how I'm feeling as well.. I'm waiting for someone to show the way. The previous collaboration was so awesome that I get cold feet just thinking that the awesomeness of this one may depend on what the first piece will be like. So.. who's got guts? Post the bloody piece so we can get on with this!  (But not me) *hides*

Well when you put it this way, it's obvs that Snake should post first. BTW, how about we use the featured Generic-16 color pallete that Arne made?

wow, this is turning out pretty neat. This has been vastly improved since your first draft.

Only thing that bugs me is the plants in the bottom part ~ the dark 2 pixel outline and very sketchy approach doesn't really go very well with the rest stylewise.

Agree 100%. The previous trees and ground looked much better IMO.

The idea is, the tiles are drawn out as regular squares, and the engine rotates and deforms them into an isometric perspective. Pretty nifty in theory, but I really don't see the point as opposed to just drawing the tiles already in the correct perspective?
