General Discussion / Animation and small size sprites
« on: March 21, 2006, 12:48:57 am »
I'm having trouble animating the sprite I made here.

http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=940.0

I had previously started animating the taller one and had no problem. Let me explain my problem. So the way I animated is that i work on individual part of the body at a time(the whole sprite has layers) and started with the legs. But I'm having trouble with the deformation of the shaped of the legs. In the bigger sprite version it was easier to bend and move the angle of the leg while being consistent with the overall shape of the sprite, but here it's hell. I was wondering, how can you make complex animation on a small size sprite. Any trick or things to consider ? Or should I just accept I'm not good enough for such high level stuff yet...

LOL, the picture actually fits better then I expected with the rest of the logo. Makes you wonder, how about it Matriax? Your logo will reallly be a hit with something this original.

Really nice work, from the actual concept to the endwork. But I'm curious, is the nose like over the eyes or is that a general hole?

Nice, now let's make a game out of it. LOL
Actually I think I might be breaking a law right now just by looking at it. I will have to check it out, but if there is sexual intentions underlining the pic, it might be considered child pornography in Canada. Where is a damn criminal code when you need one.

Nice work, the only thing I would change would be the head, it looks kinda small. That head needs place to fit a brain and I would look at a side view of marle in the sheet hawken showed you. See the difference? The second but less important thing is that i think the feets are too big...  Of course both of those things could be a style you want to give to the sprite if you want.

Oh there are three series... lol, my adblocker was blocking the middle sprite sets... these are cool too... but I still put my money on the last sets. They have character and like I said, they could be used to make a game like FF Tactics. Are you serious about making a game though? Because these 2 pics are nothing compared to the amount of artwork you would need to make a full fledge game. If you are really interested in making a game, you could look for some game making communities out there. Maybe I could even join you if you show promise.. ;) cause I hate to waste time on unfinished projects. :(

Cool sprite and the whole muscle anatomy is nice... as for the colors I think they are both too strong... I would desaturate them to fit more the plague dragon feel(something dead and rotten).  I might be wrong because nobody else feels this way... =/ Now if I could put it into my platform game, :P

I like the second sprite sets... the style is nice. I'm curious, is it your own style or inspired by someone? Cause I would like to see more. Anyway, considering the size and simple design I would like to see different perceptions and maybe even animated. They would make cool isometric strategy game sprites.

So that's what Jimmy Neutron would look like in 50 years, lol. I like it, interesting and original main character. I would work on the feet though, other then that it's higher level stuff or small details. Now I want to see it in action please!

Well off the bat I could say the breast look a little to small, even if you don't want them to be balloon shaped. As for the animation, it obviously has problems but I dunno how to fix the legs. But for the arms, what I would do would be to make the upper part of the arm slightly to the inside of the body at the same time the lower part of the arms flab foward. And probably make them go slight behind when the lower part of the arms go back. Seriously, just walk around and look at what moves and you will see what I mean... lol Hope I was of help...
