Speaking of shadow,  the standing woman's shadows makes it seem like sunset while the relaxing one's shadow makes me think the suns on a 45 degree angle.

Well I messed with the shading a bit and tried to emphasize the shadows.
Also I tried to make the cheek bones and teeth more distinguishable.

My first Skull,  The lighting angle is Center-Left.
Angle is straight on.
I wasn't going to super realism, just good shading experience was my goal.

What do you guys think?

Aelyrin basically explained what I was thinking,
also instead of getting rid of the outline you can put a darker version of the color that is surrounding.
(If you at worrying about lighting, the lighter color outline is closer to the light source.)

Legs seem a little narrow
Is that a black outline?  :/

The front legs and back legs don't seem to match very well.
I'm not really all that sure how animals run but my memory tells me that their front legs generally move the same way at the same time.
(With a little difference of course)

Also the far back leg seems to disappear

Polish the rest of the pictures like your already polished sprite and you can move from there.

Those rigid/dark shadows for clouds don't look natural.
I like it though  :3
