I think you did a great job improving the hud.  The new one looks much cleaner and organized than the other.  Great job on the shading, my crit is the bars themselves.  I feel like you lost contrast and they look very flat, which is cool if that's what you are going for.  I did a quick edit for you

I made the darks darker and added highlights on both.  On the bottom blue bar I extended it by one row of pixels so you could have a row of highlights on there.  I hope that helps you out.

To me, the white highlight makes it look weird. Maybe a lighter red or so for the highlight -shrugs-

I made the the red bar's highlight a bit more pinkish-red. The really light white threw it off to me, you guys help me decide, also, do you think AA can make the shuriken look more straightish and sharp on the side?

You'll have to forgive my dithering, it's not my strong suit. :/

Added some AA and dither to smooth it out and make the stone texture more realistic. Also increased the width of the yellow bar for readability.

I just don't think the bars connected exactly on the shuriken looks "great".
