EyeCraft wants to fight!

on: July 08, 2007, 08:35:41 pm
Hmm, couldn't help myself. I see fads and I want in. I think it doesn't really match the style of the pokemon sprites, but oh well, I'm feeling reasonably happy with it, except for the beanie, thats bothering me.

C&C welcome.

The face looks like it's been smoothed out too much. Try and give the character a distinct expression.
Apart from that it's ace material. Nice pose.

One more thing actually, should only one sleeve bee rolled up?

It needs a black outline if you want to have it match the style more, I think.

Probably a physics sort of thing.

Cheers for the feedback. The sleeves are intended to be like that (only rolled back on one arm). I had a go at changing the face, and grimaced as I added outlines, felt like I was sleeping with the enemy...

That's pretty nice work overall. Main thing that sticks out to me is his (your?) left arm. I'm guessing it may be foreshortened, but that's not quite being conveyed clearly, and the arm is thus looking a tad short. Other than that, left foot looks like it's pulled inwards in a somewhat uncomfortable/unbalanced manner. Maybe push it out some more for a more stable base?

Yeah I see what you mean;

Cheers. Aye, it is meant to be me, btw.

EDIT: Added a zipper and fiddled. Is it too distracting?

Looking quite nice, although the zipper is a bit hard to read. To much detail at this size methinks. And you might want to make the pokeball more visible.

Another thing, (our) left leg is a bit flat, some wrinkles in the pants like on the other leg would help a lot.

You are using a black jacket with a black shirt which might be confusing you should change that.
Also he is looking to the ground, the pokeball Is not so visible.

Some good points. I can't really figure out a way to raise his eyes much so that it doesn't look like hes looking at the ground, though to me it doesn't look like he is anyway. still, I tried a little. Changed the shirt a little, do you reckon it works? The colours are bothering me a tiny bit, like theyre too saturated or theyre bleeding or something.

EDIT: Added seams to the jeans

This is really neat, BUT, it does not stick with the style at all. Study the shading/color selection of the actual characters, it is more cell shaded, and less detailed, also, if you intended to make this the actual size of the pokemon characters, he is to big. If you were not intending to capture the style...sorry.

I'm not going to pretend this is a small task either; certainly none of us here can claim to have accomplished it.  it's the realm of masters.  still, it's what we all have to try for.

Aye, all valid points. I gave up sticking to the style early on, mainly because I hate it.

If you're not aiming to resemble the pokemon style, it doesn't have much wrong with it.
One thing is that the pokeball isn't clear at all. Try to add a dark outline to it or something to make it more visible/readable.
Looks awesome though!
