Not sure if you're working from reference but I suggest you do, especially with the face, you probably struggle with female faces like myself so it might be best to find some reference.

A big chunk of the skull is missing on the profile view, makes him look deflated.

Just some things to note that I feel are off, the pose is very stale, I know he's supposed to be a big sluggish monster but you can do it in better ways besides a sluggish, boring static pose. For instance, put objects around him for size comparison, like a tree or an animal so you know just how big he is. Another thing I dislike is the composition, it doesn't really seem too well thought-out, you need to lead us through the image, here its just a knight/robot monster thing just hanging around, lead your viewer's eyes through the piece, you can do this through lighting, placement, etc. With composition you could also show how big he is.

Also I don't know if this will help much but as for how you're constructing the knight, just his over-all design, you might want to check out the Tower Knight boss from Demons Souls (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyOa9_jNnEw), maybe you'll get a clearer idea of what you want in your own piece?

Just to add, I do apologize if I was mean in any sort of way, I'm pretty bad with being blunt.

As I said, it was sketched in 30 seconds. I didn't want something completely oversketched for my first try. (I thought it was a bunny, too, after a while). That's for the anatomy tips even though I wasn't really seeking them. :'D
I suggest not pursuing art if you're going to take a very, very short amount of time on a piece, in this case a sprite ESPECIALLY pixel art which is very, very time consuming. I also highly suggest not going to an artwork critique board if you don't care much for general help on anatomy among other things.

With this in mind I suggest you go draw some still life, judging from your sprite you haven't a clue on how light works, but don't worry, for that can be fixed. Might want to read up on color theory and more on deer anatomy, you might even want to do some studies of deer in order to get a better feel for it. Right now it looks nothing like a deer, it looks like a Pokemon, made me think of Eevee.... hurm, what else? Oh uh this link might help a bit with understanding how the pixel art medium works: http://www.derekyu.com/?page_id=218. Good luck on this.

Damn st0ven that is an awesome edit, Vermolius really study that edit and try to figure out why he did what he did. It seems you need a bit of a better fundamental grounding as well Verm, maybe you should study up on anatomy a bit, do some life drawing (could be from photo too), draw a lot of still life, find good ways to set up, etc.

I like your style Rybar, yearning to learn, wanting to get things right, if you really wanna tackle animation, its pretty tough to do, I highly, highly suggest you pick up The Animators Survival Kit by Richard Williams. There's gonna be quite a bit to learn but I can tell you in the end it should be worth it (speaking of animation, I should probably starting reading that book more myself and doing more animated pieces :-\). Anyway as for the initial sprite, it reminds me a lot of Out of This World or Flashback, I'm likin it, but I've tried to address a few issues as seen here in this edit:

I've tried to put down the color count down a bit, up the contrast, kinda give it a feel for an actual light source hitting it, "beef" things out i.e. try to give them depth. Hope this edit helps, good luck with your game.

Sources of light, fire, for instance ;) don't have shadows. Also that laser's pretty puny, you should make it more than one pixel thick, either than those two things this has a lot of potential to be some great stuff, just keep workin at it.

xhunterko: I think we can all agree that we want you to digest what we've told you, because I personally feel that all my advice has gone on empty ears every time I've given you it, even got me in trouble once because I was trying to nail into your head that its needed (fundamentals) to be a good artist, or else, its highly unlikely that you will get anywhere. None of us have too much initiative to help you, we're just doing it from the good of our hearts, or at least thats what I'm guessing. I don't want you to say "thats a wrap has everyone had their 'venting'? Alright lock the thread!", thats what I've gathered from your latest post, I just want it to get it through to you, otherwise, you're going to be at a stand-still for forever. Thats all you'll hear from me, no more pestering from me, if you follow through with our advice, you probably won't be on the forums for quite some time anyway.

Remember: This is about your individual improvement, we're just trying to push you to improve but only YOU can make the choice to discipline yourself and start on your actual art expedition... or you can choose not to, you do what you think is best for you.
