scary mockup

I know it isn't much, but it's the best tree I've ever come up with and I'd like some crits on it please.
I'm afraid the leaves should maybe cast a shadow over the top of the trunk/vines, but I wasn't sure how to go about that without ruining the entire piece.
Thanks.

Tree? I don't see a tree in that peice... o__o;;
Just three objects down the bottom, the flooring and a sky.

I think the 'sky' is a large canopy stretching horizontally over the top of the piece, and the left most 'object' is a tree trunk.

I think the pixel technique is okay, but the colors doesn't create a scary mood. I made an edit and just altered the palette
mine <-> yours
some ideas:
* change the ground. Don't use bright colors much. Low contrast and curly forms
* add some variations in the treetop (branches, leaves, holes...)
[edit]
maybe in that direction?

I vote for trees in the backdrop as well as a darker crown, I actually enjoy the colours though.

yep, I planned on having darker trees in the background. by scary, I meant more of a tim burton scary.
I like your ground colors rosse, but it's an entirely different style than what I was originally aiming towards.
thanks for the input though.
