Roberto.

on: September 20, 2006, 01:06:53 pm
Haven't been able to post any work recently due the large amount of assessment I've been receiving at school lately, but now that I've failed it all I'm able to pixel again. introducing, Roberto!
Edit:
6 colours including black and white. I'm not really sure how long this picture took as i did it intermediately while writing bad essays.

I'd love it if you posted some critique, besides smileys.

No, it's not. Please reconsider your usage of the forum. If you cannot see anything wrong with this, then neither your art nor your critical eye are a boon to this forum.

Meta: You should probably AA from black a bit more, the lineart still 'shows' under the coloring, suggesting a lack of overal coherency in coloring. Nearly every pure black detail calls for smoothing as I see it.

How about a neck? Strange without.

The burst of the gun is a bit more symbolic than I sense you were going for. Muzzle flash from an energy gun would probably be better shaped from an oval-shaped basic form, no?

Actually, that's just offering observations, I couldn't make out any constructive critique.
As for me, I'd have to agree with Helm about the black.

I think there's a conflict in the shading on the torso; the front part looks like the lightsource is way over to the left, but the little highlight part to the right of that suggests a nearer lightsource. Same for the head; there's a highlight on the front of his face, but there's also one to the bottom-right of the jaw. I think this makes the form of him look flat and "embossed" if you see what I mean.
