Pixel Art / Re: Water Bottle Sprite

Use the direct image link (right click -> copy image link)

It looks fine for the intents and purposes of being a water bottle.  You could up the contrast a bit. If you did want to make it more interesting, adding some perspective, a more distinct light, and some extra details like ridges that some water bottles have could make it look nicer.
Quick edit:
Kept BG in there in case some parts were hard to see against the forum BG.

I would also suggest using the direct link to the image

What do you mean? You can just use the flood fill to fill with any background you want. To make it so that the color stays when things are cut and moved, turn on the layer transparency by clicking the ellipses "..." on the layer and selecting the background color as the transparent color. Do the same for the frame to set the transparency for the image.

You should read through this to help with the jaggies/clean-up: http://pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299

To have it feel more 'solid', you want to define the forms using big clusters of pixels to sculpt out shapes on top of shapes of your little fire man.

I took some anatomical liberties in the design since a well molded design helps rendering be easier without the need of any top technical skills.

For the fire, there is really no easy process. Lots of practice, studying and repetition.
Here is an anim I did a few years back that doesn't really seem like fire at all

Compare that to one that is a bit more fire like from more recent times (though still not very great since it is only a first pass that I don't have time to go over again  :blind:)

Personally my borders are probably perfectly halfway between the narrow and broad pictured. The pixel purity concept is a very controversial one to be sure.

Frame transparency is the transparency the file uses. Layer transparency is used purely for image editing purposes (transparency on layer, leftover color on cut out, non-overlapping color). All you have to do for onion skin is to make sure the frame transparency is set and make sure the color you set it too is the BG color of the base layer on that frame (and all the other layers BG are not overlapping the base).

we should make a comic

like this one, but with a super cool story starring the most good looking pixel artist in the world, yoaman - any relation to any character living or dead is purely coincidental
