awwww...he wants a hug
took about 2 seconds, but maybe someone can make it look all nice and such
Wow. a really nice dithering job on that beard, my friend. You seem to be improving quite rapidly. (compared to your other threads? i guess?)
I think maybe add 1 more colour to the stomach, maybe 2. But don't dither with them, just do some AA'ing, otherwise you'd end up with a texture similar to the beard. Also, i'd remove the stripes from the peg-leg and make it more like a wood-texture.
His hat, for lack of a better way of saying it, looks fat. It's very...lumpy.the funny part is, i started with the hat. im not at home now, when i get home(if i have time) i will do all these things.
The eyes don't vary in size in your rendition as much as they do in the ref. Try shringing the one on the right some more.
Where are its hands? If the character's arms are too short for the sleeves, then the sleeves would be falling downwards as soon as they ended. As it stands right now, the piece looks like there are invisible rods holding up the sleeves.the shading i can fix.
The midtone is far too light, and the highlight is too big. The dark shadows just feel like outlines. Trying making your shadows and midtones cover a bit more area.
Also, the chest area with the name seems really flat. It feels like you didn't want to deal with shading/texturing the chest area, so you put the name there instead. Either that, or you put the name there but then were afraid to shade around it.
