Firstly if this is supposed to resemble a game sprite then can I suggest working against a 50% brightness background in either pure grey or more desaturated such as this?
Starting in this way helps you build a good level of contrast and makes the sprite/image stand out against more backgrounds.
Before going much further I think you need to work on the pose and give her more character.
With the way she's standing and the clothes she's wearing there's just nothing about her that says "warrior".
I'd suggest a more dynamic pose with feet apart and knees bent a bit.
And consider an outfit that is more suitable for combat.
Also the way the boots have big rounded toes suggest a kind of chibi style but the rest of the character doesn't fit.
I'd say probably go for more realistic shaped boots unless you want to go all out anime style.
I'm not really digging that weapon design.
Seems like maybe you should start by drawing her holding a plain pole staff until you get the pose nicer, then consider some designs for the weapon that are a bit less awkward for her to hold.
It might be good looking at some references like
these.
