Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: Alcopop's pixel sketch thread

Here is my take on the hands. It's rough but I think you get the idea. Also tried to straighten out her stance a tad.

Not sure what those things are but I like them  :y:

Looks to me like the back layer is popping out way too much. I think it should be a lot less detailed and maybe another hue.

Looks pretty good. Not sure why you'd want to do pixel art at this size though... but...

That axe thing is a little confusing.

Her right arm looks smaller then her left arm.

Hands, hands... fingers... practice those!

Though it looks passable from this angle, I'll bet if you flipped that image the other way around she'd really look to be standing in an awkward position. If I had time I'd try it myself.

This would really benefit from a few highlights IMO. Like so:

Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: [C+C][WIP] Sprites for a beat'em up

I was starting to go somewhere with this but I ran out of time unfortunately.

Oh yeah I forgot the eye bandage :P Anyway, your portrait has a few proportion issues. Chest too far down. Neck too long. Upper arm too long. Why'd you try to draw the individual nostrils at that resolution? The colors are really plain too. I didn't change them much in my edit but someone else might have the time.

I'm really impressed with your animating ability BTW. Especially for such a large sprite. What tools do you use for animation if you don't mind my asking?

Pixel Art / Re: [C+C][WIP] Stone tiles in an isometric tileset

If you want to look at some good isometric art take a look at some screenshots from Tactics Ogre. Just a suggestion for inspiration.

I was going to suggest something like this for the color.

Pixel Art / Re: [C + C] A collection of fantasy game objects

The colors are a little bland would be my first impression. A brown sword?, maybe it's supposed to be wood?

With stuff at that size I'd recommend making the colors a lot stronger and distinct so the objects can be easily identified.

General Discussion / Re: Wacom tablet for pixel art?
« on: August 13, 2014, 03:54:24 am »
I highly recommend a small tablet ( I use a small size Intuos 3 ) if you will be doing any serious artwork.

Yes you can use a mouse for small scale stuff, but even for that a tablet will make things easier. For years when I first discovered I could draw stuff on the computer I used a mouse. Actually back in those days I don't know if there were tablets.

I got my current Intuos 3 off ebay for about 70$ used. It's the smallest size which I recommend actually. The larger sizes are more expensive and also more cumbersome to use IMO. So unless you can't afford 70$ I don't see why you wouldn't pick up a tablet.
