oomerta, if the link does not end in a file extension like, for example, .png or .bmp, it won't work in img tags.

Did you try uploading a bmp?
Don't use that format, it's not compressed which means it downloads slow, photobucket turned it into a jpg which blurs the image and adds colors.
Try sticking with gif or png.
