Pixel Art / Re: FIX MY HAIR GUYZ
« on: September 20, 2017, 06:29:58 pm »
Also consider 3d volume, depth and direction of light. If you add reflections all "willy nilly", it'll still look weird. Of course that goes for more than just the hair.

Sigh* This guy just recently scammed me out of $100 and did not deliver anything. He showed a few examples and modifications of a template that I sent him and they were all horrible.

I did a google search and found this post. I am completely devastated that I lost my hard earned money just like that to this fraud.

I met this guy on pixel joint. He had messaged me after seeing my posting. I thought his resume looked awesome so I decided to go with him. He asked if I could pay 50 up front so he could get started and then he showed a crappy half assed example to me then asked for another $50 because he had things to get done and that it would help him alot.

This is rough.

I feel there is a need to start a thread involving business literacy for individuals in our community. These sort of things happen way too often and can often be the case of misunderstanding and bad management of money and time.

General Discussion / Re: Better transparency grid colors?
« on: September 20, 2017, 05:31:44 pm »
If something hurts my eyes, I tend to go with a plain black background. Or maybe a soft yellow background similar to old drawing paper. I mean, if you aren't using the grid, then why even have it visible?

Pixel Art / Re: Why are the colours so bad?

One more thing, choose your overall palette beforehand. I tend to work with a B&W palette then add color later, but it would probably be more beneficial to simply choose a palette of about 8 colors with a meaningful range of shadows, highlights, and tones.

I'm guessing you're a fan of Fire Emblem? Don't be afraid to attempt to emulate the style of your favorite games. You'll discover deeper aesthetics by going through the motions. Keep at it.

1. Your textures are too noisy. Simplify them a bit to take advantage of pixel-art's minimalist qualities. You shouldn't be drawing individual blades of grass.

2. Your colors are a bit under saturated. Muted tones work great for pixel-art meant to create a moody, realistic tone. I'm not sure if that's what you're going for.

3. Converting your image to grayscale shows a lack of meaningful tints and shades. Your image is muted by too many gray tones. Try altering the contrast or playing with the values of your palette a bit.

That's all. Any questions?

Heya,

I'm your huckleberry.
This is a cool idea and I can give you a fair price.
My Discord is : makbadgam#3651

Once we agree upon a visual style, I can give a good assessment of what it would cost.

Experienced Pixel Artist/Animator

Name:Barry Burce
Email: barry.burce@gmail.com
Skype: barry.burce

Hi There,

My name is Barry, but I commonly identify as Absolute 8 within the online indie games scene.
I've basically been creating pixel art for use in games for around ten years. I'm versed in programming and vector art as well, but pixel art for games is definitely my passion.

I am in a position where I can invest full-time in the creation of pixel art for commercial projects so I'd like to offer my services for those that need it.

I've attached a few active examples of my work below. Feel free to contact me with details about your project and we can discuss an agreement to work together.

Looking forward to teaming up and making indie game history with whomever takes up the challenge.

Sincerely, Absolute 8

No prob, I prepared another edit of latest as well.

I tried to accentuate the weight of the breasts  :y: . I also made some form and shading edits here and there.
Hopefully it isn't too detailed now.

Meanwhile, that barbarian is legit; the way he's holding the weapon to the overall design is great  ;D
