Portrait:
I actually started my portrait on my family's ancient imac, with a sweet 5-button mouse at my disposal. I was photoshopping with power! The laptop I'm renting from my college is hundreds of times sweeter, but I have no mouse any more. All I did was touch up some details and colors on the laptop (because the imac's monitor is so broken no amount of calibration could save it). And speaking of calibration: I hate using lcd monitors. Colors..... shifting.... RRGGH!
I don't know what to do with the hair: It's always been one of my weakest areas.
Running/ jumping/ breathing animation:
If I get around changing the running animation, I might change the leaning position, and the bobbing of his pompadour if it looks good. The running in the same place is intentional: I really hate it in videogames when my character stops running and he snaps into an entirely different area of the 32x32 / 64x64 rectangle to which he's assigned. I might exaggerate the up/down motion as well.
Thanks for the jumping advice, lief. I knew something was wrong with it, I didn't know exactly what.
The top pixels of the head in the breathing animation are also supposed to be that way. I was trying... for lack of a better term, antialiased movement.
Helm: If I post all my old stuff, will you post your old flashback critique? eh?
