Give some advice on this sprite

Not a ripoff, it was totally created by my pixel artist, but I believe he could use some improvements to look at before he attempts to create the animation (well maybe color, some shading and so on). So any advice what has to be changed?

This place isn't meant to be used for "improving requests".
What you could do is ask for critique and tips, and try to improve yourself, though.
I'll leave it for a while just in case you change your mind, but otherwise, I will lock it.

It would be better if you directed YOUR pixel artist to this forum... that way he/she may learn stuff directly - if, that is, they want to?

Would that make more sense perhaps?
