Right. I drew this picture, and my dad wants to use it on his computer. The only problem is, the quality sucks as usual. I've messed around with it a bit on photoshop, but it still looks pretty bad..would any of you all mind touching it up a little? :) ANyways, heres the image..

I'm not going to pretend this is a small task either; certainly none of us here can claim to have accomplished it.  it's the realm of masters.  still, it's what we all have to try for.

don't you have a bigger picture of it?
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

Greyscale, color reduction and a couple other modifications.

Tried to clean up the original as best I could, but I went ahead and made an inked version anyways.  Couldn't tell exactly where you wanted it shaded, so I'll leave that to you.

Pardon the crappiness - I usually am a lot more volumetric in my shading, but I got lazy. Example:

Anyone have a good tutorial on using the pen tool in Photoshop? I understand drawing with it, but I never found out how to varying line widths and such like Amon did.

I draw with a pixel brush at 1200 dpi, 11x17, so I can't help there. The pen tool and, really, any vector work, just drives me nuts.

Ray, you could do similar work much, much faster in Manga Studio 3 EX, which is built for this sort of digital inking.

edit: You already know this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnWtNbgVgQY

That's what I use. It's a raster brush. 11x17 @ 1200dpi. That sketch only took a couple minutes.  :)
