First off I want to say sorry for the extreme edit, I wen't completely overboard with it
But now to the crits!
You are already showing forms and shapes with light, which is good, and something many beginners don't!
Your colors are a bit of an eyesore though and the red and green contrast eachother harshly. Don't worry though, colorpicking is some think that comes naturally after a while of doing pixelart but for now you can maybe take some time and think and try to analyze why I chose colors as I did.
About the colors I also cut them down from 17(exluding the bg) to 15, and recylced som colors between elements, I think this helps the overall piece come together, it makes the picture seem like a whole, it can also be a fun challenge.
Right now the different elements seem very seperated from eachother, other than the colors one factor causing this is the outlining, any reason why the theeth aren't outlined? if the rest of it is they should be too!
